Omega I own an Omega Air Charger, what is the experience in common with this compressor?

I have had the Air Charger for over 6 years now and I have only had problems with the burst disk. The only suggestion I have is to not let the compressor sit too long. If you do it can actually have the pistons seize, so be sure to crank in the grease injector turret a turn every once in a while, and don't let them sit for 6 months without just turning it on. IF you have problems Todd the North American Tec for Omega is a REALLY nice guy that will work with you to get you up and running. The Omega brand is a great compressor line. E

Okay, thank you for the tip, so if i have understood that right, it is best to let it run even without charging anything or turn the greasepot screw a turn, to prevent the piston to seize. Well i can right now only shot in my apartment for about 19 ft, so i have no need to fill my 74 cf carbon fiber bottle, i use this one on my FX Crown MKII Continuum. But the local Gun Range is a bit of a chunk to go there shooting. So at the moment it will not be running much, but i guess i have to turn it on for a few minutes every month to keep the Piston from seizing up. Thanks a lot again for that tip, i was not aware of it.

I would say to turn it on for 10 seconds every 2 months. Just to get the pistons moving to a different position. You only need to turn the grease knob a half a turn after doing a bottle fill (my suggestion) because that is where there is sustained compression at higher volumes. That is from my experience.
As for shooting more, I am not sure where you are located but you could look at Member Clubs to see if there is a field target club near you. it's a great way to meet new people and improve your shooting. E

Eric thank's again, i will do that from now on with the Omega. No, no Club around here, the next one would be in Lousiana, that's out of the range. I can shoot at my brother in laws house, this would be 35 miles away from where i live, the problem is he is not all the time at home. And i just can't go on his property when he is not present. But i will get my shoots once in a while.

Yes, Todd is a very knowledgeable person. I have owned an Omega Super charger and do to poor parts, it rarely works. Todd has a fix for my current issues but the parts are not currently in inventory. I have also sent it back to the seller. After that shipping mess it worked for about a month. Today, it sits idle and I doubt if it will ever work again.
I am looking for a more reliable unit to charge my air guns either straight to the gun's cylinder to 300 bar. I am looking for a 12 unit and a 110v unit for charging my carbon fiber tanks. Thanks for your time.

I had an air charger but decided I was going to be doing a lot of filling so sold it to a buddy and bought an Alkin.
No problems at all with it while I owned it.
My only concern was that grease pot. As you know, you grease it, IIRC, every six hours. The concerning thing was, how do I know the grease is getting injected ? As you may know the grease is sucked into the air intake and is distributed by ingestion into the cylinders. Pretty slick method.
To assure it was getting grease I removed the tampon filter and as I turned the grease cup I looked into the air intake to watch a slug of grease appear in the top portion of the air intake hole.
Also, when refilling the grease cup with grease it’s important not to have any air bubbles/pockets in the grease cup. To assure there’s no voids, remove cup from compressor head (it unscrews) and put a little grease in the cup. Then tap the cup on a piece of wood or plastic several times and it will drive the grease down and any air up to the surface. Repeat until cup is full. Before putting grease cup back onto compressor, reinstall its threaded cap and turn it until you see grease start coming out of the hole in threaded end. Now you can thread it back into compressor. And then when ever greasing you can choose to turn the cap and “assume” grease is coming out or do as I did and visually confirm a squirt of grease was occurring.
Over all though, I felt my air charger was a solid machine.
One thing I added was an external auxiliary
electrical box with a one hour timer switch, a single pole double throw switch (SPDT), a single outlet and a power cord with male plug. The plug on the box plugged into the wall and the compressor plugged into the outlet on the auxiliary box. When I was pumping air the switch was wired in one of its positions to supply power to the compressor. I then turned the compressor on and the water pump. When I was done pumping air I turned off the air chargers motor switch but left the pump running. Then on the auxiliary box I flipped the SPDT switch to the other position and rotated the timer knob to fifteen minutes. That way I could walk away and not have to worry about leaving the pump running all night long.

Edit: Maybe it was the cooling fans that stayed running, I don’t recall, it’s been a while.

I own an Omega Air Charge, yes the one with the basic functions only and a little bit on the ugly side :) . It would be interesting to me from other owners what their experience is with this piece of Equipment.
I have an Omega Super charger and have had one problem after another. Intially, I had to send it back as the water pump would not stay attached. I was told the unit was fully checked before it was sent when I bought the unit. Hardly! Next came the failure of the new water pump and a small white piece. Finally, after months, I was able to get in contact with Todd and ordered the necessary parts. Many weeks later the parts arrived (which I had to pay for myself) as I was leaving on a month long vacation. I will try to get the unit to run when I return home. It is disturbing to read I should run the unit every month. I do not think the unit has ever worked for a month without a breakdown. Recently, I ordered a NomadII as a back-up in the field. I will be pickinh up the Nomad next week at a store in Mass. Hopefully, I will be able to test the Nomad and my FX and shoot at the shop. If I had to order a full-sized compressor with what I have experienced, I would order a Daystate or a Carett2. Just my experience and opinion. Love the HardAir site and information

Thanks for your kind words about Hard Air! I have to add that I also have an Omega Super Charger which - apart from occasionally popping a burst disk (easily diagnosed and fixed) - has worked pretty well for me over several years.

Well I’ve owned an Omega Aircharger for 2 yrs now. I have about 25 hrs on it. I run it about 20 min a month topping off my bottles. It’s basically a GX pump relabeled. But it has worked flawless so far. I’ll pump my bottles to 4500 psi. Then after they cool, I bring them back up to 4500. I’ve just purchased a GX Cs4. It’s similar to the Omega Trail Charger, but will pump to 5800 psi. For 3 months so far it’s great also. Also if you go to the GX site, you’ll see that the new Aircharger type will pump up to 7200 psi. Pleanty of head room for our 4500 psi bottles. But as stated both have been great. I even top off my 45 and 60 min tanks from just shy under 3000 to 4500 about 20 min. Southern Airgunner got me into these compressors. He had one for about 6 years before it quit, and he pumps multiple Bottles everyday.I believe he got another one now. They are slower that YH, but quieter ,run cooler, and have a self contained cooling system. The only think you have to do is clean the check valve and ball. It gets grimy. But keep it lubed and make sure to run it on occasion to keep the grease flowing. As others said when the sit too long the piston rings get set and possibly stuck, but other than that, the are jam up pumps. Simple and just plain work. If this one goes,I’ll defiantly get another,or start saving for an alkin. 2 Aircharger for the price of an Alkin. But like they say,buy once cry once. Your choice..Shoot Straight!

It is not a relabeled anything. Omega is the manufacturer. Check out the interview HAM did with owner a couple years ago.

If I were to ever upgrade compressors I think I would try the Omega Turbocharger, my yong heng just works and does so well, such a little work horse but I have two friends with the Omega line and they , really, really love theirs.

I’ve seen that, but my Omega, has a GX pump cylinder and head. So maybe they used GX parts to assemble the Omega Aircharger. Just saying.
