Ghost Ghost Hp SLUG BARREL!!!!!

I agree with @Pesty3782. Try the Altaros before writing off the whole project. Even if you don't want to use/buy Altaros, for whatever reason, at least you will know if the barrel was capable of accuracy from anything at all. I know that I had really wanted to use two different slug brands in a gun that hated all of both their offerings, and going outside of what I thought that I could make work, lead to quick success. So I might not have ended up using what I wanted to use, but got the accuracy I was really after anyway. At least you would be able to tell AoA, or the buyer of your gun, that the slug barrel can shoot accurately with something.

Hmmm but you were getting excellent groups with the lighter & midweight slugs!? I get that you want it to shoot what you are making on your press... but I will always give preference for what the barrel likes.
A big +1 on ditching the tensioner & make sure your c.f. shroud on the new barrel isnt tight up against the block and retry. On paper a 1:17.7 twist should shoot the mid-weight stuff real well.

That was the plan. Really want this to work honestly. If not I am still looking at the fx king, even though I despise the company.
If the King's Sabre Tactical chassis had a folding stock and came available with a 700mm barrel, I'd have one already. That's basically a blueprint for the project gun I'm working on now. The company is what it is. It just ends up having a lot of options, way more than anybody else.

Have you tried a harmonic tuner? I had one on my .25cal Impact and you could see a difference with and without. I bought the Daystate model to try on my Ghost and Delta Wolf, but that won't be until spring.

Me personally not a fan of tuners. Too much weight on end of barrel tends to bend it down and when i experimented with fx tuner it would just shift group around in a circle not necessarily tighten group

A friend of mine is using the same barrel and here is his findings.

Altaros 40 grain 900 up to 940

JSB KO MKII 25 grain at 990

H&N 27-30-36 between 880-940

H&N 38 & 40 in .217 880-940

Yeah he has a lot of time on his hands

But we all know each barrel is different.

25gr Jsb KO at 990fps....man THAT is what im talking about!!😍 As a pester (starling/cowbird/hosps/pigeon) shooting inside 100Y mainly... thats about perfect! No need for anything heavier as that would hit like a freight train already. @Woogie_man was getting nice groups with them too. I remember Tony B saying the Jsbs were good out the new slug barrels (and I believe the Rangemaster Juggernauts are basically 25.39gr Jsb Ko's?) so thats good at least. They are very well priced for a tin of 200, and always available.👍
So these barrels are liking .217 over the .218 so far?

Don't have any...and honestly don't want to buy any. That was the reason for the barrel. To make the ammo to use
Well for an example my revere likes 17.5 gr nsa 216.5 it shoots 217 not bad but 216.5 better. My brk barrel likes 217 never even tried 218 cause 217 chamber rather snugly and slugging the barrel says that about right. If you’re forcing extra drag it might not shoot is best. Were the jsb you shot 218?

With the slugs I am making there is no drag on them when loading. When I am trying to load in say an NSA 218 those are extremely tight. With the pure lead from Corbin you can feel a difference between the difference in lead. NSA needs to be harder due to the way the slugs are made. With the NSA high speed machines they can't use pure lead like Corbin does, because if they do the slugs will stick in the machine.

I have slugs made, just waiting to hit the range. With the extreme cold as of late, I really don't want to leave my rifle and tank in the truck for a full day of work..... and then go to the range. I should be able to get to the range some time next week.

Did talk with AOA and they were saying that the Altros Kings in 40 grain shot great out of these barrels at around 880-930 fps. Going to look at ordering some possibly to try, but hoping the ACE is close enough to work.
