Two tins of these came home with me from the ft match this last weekend.



AOA donated a case of them to the raffle and I won these when my ticket was drawn, but they started just handing them out so many of us in attendance took at least one tin home.

I'm not big on weighing pellets but I know many are so I weighed 25 from each tin, in the name of science, or something like that.


And every single one of the randomly chosen 50 weighed 22.1grains on my little cheap scale.
315 per tin makes that a sample of 50/630, so the 50 represents about 8% of the two tins. I was expecting to do standard deviations and distributions and such, but none of that necessary when they all weigh the same.

Sliced a couple with a razor, both to sample hardness and better show the profile of the skirt cavity. Not a perfect 50/50 slice, but close...


Theyre not JSB soft, but they're also not Crosman CP hard. I can smash the skirt between thumb and forefinger, but it takes some effort.

No sticker on the bottom of the tin.

They've got some sort of lube on them. I would assume an agent to help in mold release. But definite residue on my fingers and the scale. They're not heavily coated with it, but something is present.

I'll try a few through the 1:22 SubMOA barrel from the Blackwolf when I get a chance, and report back on how they do.

Love the transparency. I don’t see the point anymore in trying to keep something like this secret. It’s too easy to determine import sources nowadays. In my own case, it actually makes it more likely that I will try them. There’s always the possibility that one brand maybe tweaked one way or another as part of their purchase requirements and that alone makes it worth trying them. It’s never a bad thing to have more than one option for something that you like.

Yes, I am finding that out more and more especially in regard to airguns. Garbage in garbage out. It makes searching for things faster but as often as not is giving the wrong answer and that is not helpful at all.

Western Airguns (except for the Bushbuck which is 100% made in the US) platforms are made in the USA with domestic and globally sourced parts (Omega is South Korea I believe) etc. Parts are ordered and fulfilled based largely on who can produce superior products at the lowest price, but not always. You may note that the SUB-MOA barrels are sourced here stateside and are the most important and complex piece of the platforms, and then the magazine in titanium is also made stateside. Quality above all, but at the cost savings to keep the price as reasonable as possible. The invisible hand of the market in wanting quality and low costs is the driving factor for nearly all companies. But Western doesn't shy away from that and hence the reason "Made in the USA with domestic and globally sourced parts" is written on the side. I suspect if Western drove manufacturing exclusively to the USA it would result in a priced rifle around $8,000 bucks (the need to make a factory building exclusively 480cc bottles would be an undertakings, for example). We are the proud distributor stateside for Western and believe it represents a very high-end option that balances remarkable energy, fun, quality, and of course the warranty support that you would expect out of any high-end, full auto powerhouse.

All my British airguns also have German made barrels, made by the same company...if you need more than one guess
I would say AI is right about 71% of the time, Definitely not a huge fan lol.
@Franklink that is some consistent ammo, but now im wondering on the quality of that scale! Deeeeep down i want to start weighing/sorting Ammo.

Weighing pellets isn't something I'm a big proponent of...I feel time spent shooting pellets (practicing) is a far better use of my time than weighing them.

I only weighed these cuz they're new and I was curious to see how consistent they are. Not likely to ever weigh any of them again.

Love my AF. Barrels and bottle are both foreign I believe. My Talon bottle was from China. LW German barrel.

I've weighed pellets exactly one time. I have pretty much the same attitude as you do about the process. Thanks for dusting off the scale for us.
