just sayin!

Afraid I'm out this year. Tuesday night at 10, a 120ish year old oak tree in my backyard fell after a storm. It came right across an into my house, nearly cutting it in half. State farm ins.. Has us living in town for what is gonna be an unspecified, extended amount of time, and unfortunately Best Western doesn't have a range.
That's terrible 😔

oh no that sucks same thing happen to my uncle about ten years back ( guessing on the ten years back its been a while ).
I hope they get you settled sooner then later!
Thanks. My wife is going nuts over the whole deal, but State Farm is taking great care of us so far. They already approved 2 month😣😮 here at Best Western. And already approved all replacements on interior remodel, so new kitchen, both baths, hallway, whew. But man, that's a long expected time frame here at the upcoming holiday season. I will be having to sneak home to do a little shooting, can't hold out that long without plinking.

Hate that happened to you and your family. I know the feeling ( twice). Glad to hear that your insurance is doing good by you. Glad that you all made it through the ordeal safely. Best wishes.

Thank you very much. It actually missed us by maybe 7-8 feet at the most. We were just getting up from our recliners in the den when the sky fell. Lost top of 2 houses from tornado's, but they went up and away, not down and in! Sorry to hear about your losses as well. Nothing good about this kinda stuff, other than you and the family coming through it in one piece. That's all that really matters.

In 1984 a tornado came through our neighborhood in Lexington, KY. I gathered my 3 children and made for our safe room under the stairs. We too had State Farm homeowners insurance. It took 11 months for them to rebuild our house, and another year to fix what wasn't fixed the first time. We spent those 11 months crowded into 2 Holiday Inn rooms: no kitchen, no privacy. There were no apartments available as other tornado victims got to them before we could get State Farm's approval. The kids, now in their 50's still remember being able to eat at Rob Evans or Crackerbarrel every day. Memories. Orv.

This, is NOT a story I will be telling my wife. Today has been a week. We have already had a good ole knock down drag out over her impatience over this. Having to put her back in the right frame of mind concerning people already in line before us, for roof, walls and stuff, even before the new cabinet building/ counter building, all that good stuff. And then, the electrical work. The new killer though seems to be the clean up. The old 1970s insulation, who can say Asbestos! I was smacked in the face with this yesterday evening! I had no idea, but apparently the house is now thoroughly contaminated..in some spots about 2 feet deep, in the old early 70's crap, along with the blown type that was sprayed in on top of it. So, I already see the 2 months being stretched out. Lord help me, before the wife kills me.

Jim, as you've read above, I've been where you are now. I can certainly empathize. Fortunately, at least in some ways, our house was built in 1982, so no abestos. We were it's first owners and residents. I watched it being built from the slab up. Fortunately for us, this was before the days of "contamination". Everything was just bulldozed and put into the dumpsters at the curb. Jim, I'm really feeling it for you. Is it possible to make mudpies into chocolate cake? All you can do is try. Can you appease the wife by getting her interested in carpet and paint colors? State Farm is a great company, but sometimes we customer 's have to just take it on the chin. My only advice is to put ann attorney on retainer. This may give you some time to comfort the wife. Be well Jim. Orv.
