Ok was able to post final scores…I came in 5th!!!

A few bad/dumb wind calls cost me the podium….But I am getting more and more comfortable with the Sonoran….Everybody above me were using some sort of front rest. I was the only person on the line shooting off of a bi-pod. Maybe there is something about a good frontbrest 🤔

Well time to go have fun at Silhouette.

Tony P

P.S. Today I am living on the edge and having 2 cups of ☕️ before I shoot 🤣
When I was competitively trap shooting, I had a routine I did before shooting especially when the weather was going to be hot.
I would start hydration the day before and then when I got up in the morning it was water or Gatorade, then about 30mins before the first round of shooting I would have a Spark from AdvoCare, then drink two bottles of water during the 100 rounds 1/2 bottle at a time. then repeat the Spark routine before each round, at state shoots we generally shot 200 rounds and local 1 or 2 day shoots it would be up to 300 rounds.

If I did not have time for doing my normal routine it was a coffee in the morning. 🤣 🤣

So instead of shooting I grabbed a competitors wife and got her on the Sonoran.

She sighted in at 100 and here is her target

So she lost in the final in her relay 🤬

The giggles and smiles when she schwacked the chickens made everything worth while

@Pesty3782, you sir are a great ambassador for the sport… That is a sweet group she shot with your generously provided Sonoran. Congratulations on placing in the Top Five …🙏

I was bipodding it up too. Chinese knock off in fact. .and my rear support was home-made bags from old jeans with rubber mulch in them. 😁

I think I was the only .22 in finals....seems 100yard benchrest is a .30 game now.

Pretty pissed (at myself) that I only shot at 24 of the 25 bulls in finals. The sun was straight above us and I couldn't see my holes, I thought the "8" in the dark red was my pellet hole.

Too bad but that is another reason to not like 22 @ 100 30 is easier to see!

Ehh, the winner had a double shot bull in the finals, using a .30.
The conditions were just rough for seeing holes. Sun directly above so no backlighting and no sunlight on the face of the cards either. I shot probably 20 cards @ 100 yard in the couple weeks leading up to this match and never had any issues seeing holes.

With the lighting, holes in that dark red 8 ring were hard to make out.

Regardless, even had I shot a ten on that bull, I was more than ten points out of winning it.

Well what ya gonna do? I think anyone shooting over 210 is a pretty good shot that could win if not making any mistakes or caught out by wind. So good shooting Cole!

Yeah, Cole is right with visibility of hits. I shot the right column and on the top target, the shot was right in the 8 ring edge towards the 9 and I didn’t see it. Even at 40x. So I shot another that was a 10. Luckily the MD had reasonable rules (unlike EBR and RMAC) where double shots just counted as the lower of the two. It’s actually the first time in competition that I’ve double shot a target. 227-3x.

Looking forward to seeing you again! You are correct the Sonoran is very accurate shooter. Just contemplating selling mine as I have too many .30 cal and for my long arms the length of pull is uncomfortable and for bench shooting I like a heavier rifle. See you in a few weeks.

Pyramid Cup is in 2 weeks and today was the last Local 100 yard competition to shoot before getting "Viper" Yeah I finally named the Sonoran :D ready to travel.

Here is Viper all ready to go. It is the virgin trip for Viper.

Now today we pulled off a first place with a 478 and 5 X's. Brendan M had a 477 and 13 X's  This guy can shoot!!!!! Lauren P. got 3rd and the Boss lady got 4th. There were a few behind her, but hey, Viper and I finally beat those two ladies!!!!! I also had the least expensive set up out there for 75 yard and 100 yard shooters....I was the only one shooting off of a Bi Pod and rear adjustable rest at 100.

Here is a picture of the target.

I would get a few flyers here and there and I am having a hard time wrapping my head around it since after 142 shots my low was 897 FPS and my High was 901 FPS...Yeah I know a pretty :poop:'y ES.....AEA 45 grain pellets.

Winds were typical Rio winds with hold offs from 4 MOA to 2 MOA...The winds would switch frequently and catch you off guard if you were not ready. Also you had the times where your flags were pointing in opposite directions

So not sure if the winds bit me in the A$$ or if it was a pellet....Things that make you go HUM!!!!!!
