Sonoran BRK Sonoran 30

I really don’t know who’s who as far as competitors on hear, so I assume everyone is LOL. I’ve just started swaging my own slugs. I just tried 44.7gr. 900-920fps. They’re grouping right around 1” at 100yds. I’ve gone from 44gr to 54g. My Sonoran doesn’t seem to be able to sling the 52gr above 830 fps. My slugs are coming out at .3003 +/- and I don’t think they are getting a perfect seal. I was discussing ordering a .30 round nose boat tail similar to the Altaros, but I think they’d be too heavy for my Sonoran. I’m really thinking I would like something with just a little more power for slugs.

I have been running some Howler slugs in the Sonoran, and they are averaging 866 FPS, and ok on accuracy, out at 100 yards.

If you really like playing with slugs ( which in my opinion isn’t a great idea) perhaps a blackwolf or a tiapan vet 2 or an agt is in your future. I don’t know but ive tried a lot of slugs and while some don’t shoot bad i can generally get as good with pellets @100 anyway. I don’t really have room to shoot farther. Oh by the way try a couple a couple tho under 30 if you can sometimes it seems to me that is better to a point

I don’t know why I care about slugs, other than it’s fun to experiment. I’ve tried .177, .22, .25 and .30. But the Sonoran is the only rifle that has done ok with them.

I have been running some Howler slugs in the Sonoran, and they are averaging 866 FPS, and ok on accuracy, out at 100 yards.

I’m going to try the howlers.

Out of all the different slugs in different calibers ive shot the most consistent are 13 gr ko out of a ghost barrel

I can’t bring myself to spend $600 on a barrel for the Ghost. I think I’d rather put it towards another rifle.

Oh i wasn’t just talking ghost either fx tiapan daystate quite a few been chasing slugs for several years. Perhaps at this time i expect too much from them i don’t know

I've spent way too much time watching the FX guys, lol shooting birds long range with .22 slugs. I am thinking the new Condor slug gun will be a winner with em. Hey @Billm ...you should get one and report back us about it. I'd be grateful anyways

No, I understand what you were saying. I’ve thought about some of the higher powered guns. There seems to be a few that are breaking the slug barrier. I don’t know why I’m chasing slugs. I’ve never seen a Starling or Eurasian dove in my yard and if I did, I can shoot a pretty tight group out to 100 yds with pellets with the Ghost .25 or the Sonoran. the only other legal invasive bird is the sparrow. The Armadillo has not returned. I’ve never seen another mouse or rat in my yard lol. The .30 slugs are punching holes through my steel ,17 and .22 rimfire bullet trap. But, now that I bought the press, I feel obligated lol.

I bought the BRK slug barrel in 28in for the Ghost, and shooting the Edit: Airmarksman 40.1 grain slugs that the Utah Air gun guys are posting, I have them running at 931.5 FPS with a STD DEV of 1.3 and spread of 4.7, and they are accurate

I’ve had slightly better with the alteros 2161 wish either made a 217 think that might be the ticket for my barrel

Thats a ton of power too!....Im waiting for you guys to try some lighter slugs to be honest. I'm really hoping the mainstream stuff (Jsb KOs, H&N precision, etc in 23-34gr) will shoot well outta these barrels. If i had a Sonoran i'd definitely stick to pellets outta it with the results you guys get @100Y

The Howlers shoot good out of the Sonoran, but Pellets are the best accuracy
