Ghost Ghost tuning

Definitely attainable with the Ghost trigger but you MUST repl (or chop) the 2 springs then. The one in the back on linkage and the actual second stage spring. @Franklink has done a nice write up on it and Sub-12 Airgunners has a video or 2 on it. I too will be working on my Ghost trigger at some point....has some gritiness, second stage creep and a little too stiff. Sadly my $150 20yr old springer even has a better trigger😂🙄
Yeah, I guess I’ll have to accept a slight mod

Really you can get it to 6-8 oz by replacing 1 spring. Check old posts the hardest part is having the rod exactly the same length as it was when you started.
I saw the spring mods. I got the Sonoran to 8oz with no mods. I guess I’ll change the spring. The Ghost trigger would be fine as is for hunting, but I’d just like it to be a little lighter.

Ok so here’s a post by frank link on the ghost trigger and if you read thru to my post i tell the size of the spring i used.

I did read through this when you and danman mentioned it previously. I will order the spring kit. Thanks

I have the .177 HP, and I wanted to shoot either 10.3, or 13.4. I got very good results with the same setting, I prefer the 10.3 due to velocity being a bit better. Anyway, I set the reg to 105 bar. With power wheel on 2 the SD was 1.3 and the velocity is 917. This was around 200 bottle pressure. The ES was only four, and as you can imagine, it was stupid accurate. The stock parts are in the gun.

Another data point....

Ghost HP in .22 shooting 28.55gr JSB Grands.
23" OEM barrel, 1:30 twist, 6 land and groove polygonal rifled.
OEM hammer spring of a HP .22.
MAX on hammer wheel and reg pressure of 150 BAR.
950-960 fps

So, a mostly OEM Ghost HP. Barrel was lapped and polished (by me), rather aggressively. And of course the trigger improvements already covered here.

Pellets are being lubed with Gunzilla to minimize leading at these fast speeds.

The above was good enough to get me into the finals at a recent 100 yard benchrest event. Took top three shooters from each of three heats, and a tenth wild card shooter that was the next highest two card combined score.

If memory serves, I shot a 212 in the first round, then a 228 in round two. Then a 210 in finals (didn't shoot at one of the bulls). The winning card (not me) in finals was a 227.

At home, where I really know the wind, all the 100 yard cards are 225-235, over lots and lots of cards, both last and this summers. It will produce occasional scores up into the high 230s. My all time personal high pellet 100 yard card is with this combo, a 240.

Two cherry picked groups from a practice session aboth two weeks ago. The top one if probably a 49, not a fifty. I was being too generous to myself with the plugging.

I'm told that my long range success with the Grands probably has a lot to do with the altitude density at which I'm shooting at home, and where this match was held last weekend. So can't promise the same sorts of results at lower elevations.

I live @ just under 5700feet, and the match this weekend was at just under 6800feet.

Very interesting! Mine is tuned 100% the exact same, 150 bar reg, H.W. 13- 15 though as i get no real pellet speed increase beyond, barrel polished by me twice now (J.B. and then flitz more recently) I definitely have no such accuracy with the grands to date, JTS 25.39, Shallow, or Hades Mrds....all meh. BUUUT slap in some lubed Deeps (or reg Mrds) and it tightens right up instantly. Honestly at the farther ranges (beyond 75Y) I usually fault the wind, me, the Helix, or my lack of a proper rear rest. Gotta check the speed I'm getting with the Grands....its back to 975ish fps with the 25.39gr stuff which is nice and flat with tons of 👊👊

I worked over the barrel with some 280 grit lapping compound. Can't recommend that someone go willy nilly without having at least an idea of what you're doing....but lightening up the LW typical two tight spots at each end can really make a barrel sing.

This barrel does well with MRDs too, and with a substantial reg pressure drop, lower weighted JSBs too.

My BRK Ghost barrel in 28in likes 38 to 40gn slugs, the 40's don't fit in my mags and the 38's fit. I am still working on dialing that in.
if I get a chance to shoot this weekend, I will post results and pics.

40gn slugs I have running at 861 FPS that seemed to be pretty good, but I would like to bump up to 900 FPS
38gn Slugs I have them running at 902 FPS and that seems to be a good FPS for those.

but still working on getting it dialed in

Oh Wow, I figured the 1:17.7 twist would love the light-med grain slugs better! What dia does it prefer so far?
