An interesting ability of the Nate chrony is you can verify if it is working with your cell phone/tablet/laptop by providing power and dropping a pellet through the chrony and you will get a reading of about 5fps if it is working. No need to mount it on an airgun to verify your chrony/computer connectivity.

Because I have no idea what's new or innovative about these units, I'm awaiting a thorough review.

We've taken a different approach to many... i'll talk design & hopefully it doesnt come across as salesy...

- Calibrated: we calibrate from a set of certified master chrony's to ~1fps @ 1,000fps, we are the most accurate on the market (SKAN recently stopped - they were the only other calibrated units I know of) & we are the only ones that live shoot calibrate every unit (that's important)
- Muzzle mounted: the most reliable method for detection, indoors, outdoors, sun, clouds, artificial lights - only muzzle mount can give you this. Requires virtually zero space to use - great for tuning in the basement. Drawback - no powder, you'll need another chrony for that. Another drawback is potential POI shift, i have lightweight polymer versions & it'll depend on the barrel. Bench people just leave it on.
- Adapter system: we can do adapters for ANYTHING - if we dont have it, reach out. Drawback - if you have 30 really odd guns - you could need 30 adapters = $. The design & commonality of barrel profiles is pretty common, so i've only ever seen 3 adapters at most purchased & give some discounts.
- No screen - in your pocket/hand is the worlds best screen, why would i add a crappy screen to the device?, keeps the $ down. Worst case you can get a $35 7" tablet as a dedicated screen if you dont want to use your device
- No battery - your phone/tablet has a battery, lets just use that. Keeps complexity & costs down, and also weight on the muzzle. LiPo battery shipping/storage is really costly also. It is standard 5v USB powered - nothing proprietary, you dont have to come back to me for a replacement battery in a couple of years when its worn out.
- No apps to install - no device access, no permissions, we use a standard browser to load our data. Its your data & your device, we wont touch it.

I picked one up at Pyramyd Air Cup and it works very well. I have two extra adapters so it works great on my Ghost, Red Wolf, Alpha Wolf, Skout Evo’s and Notos. Very accurate compared to my FX pocket chrony.

Depends on your use case.... Its possible they can be...
Radars have their downsides & may not be usable in a lot of circumstances.

100% agreed. I do Airgun shooting with very limited time so I just slap on the fx and done however it’s a good enough velocity reading not as accurate as Nate. The Nate is my go to standard chronograph

I’ve been quiet on this, but I bought a NateChrony and never got it setup correctly. Nate has been great in trying to assist me via PMs, but perhaps I’m not so tech savvy to get this thing going. So it sits. I can’t say anything good or bad, other than this doesn’t seem like the setup for me. Another setback is the need for various adapters. The guns I shoot mostly have fat shrouds, odd shaped shrouds, and off center barrel alignment making it take more effort than I’d like to learn to chronograph shots. I shot and destroyed my primary chronograph and bought another for the familiarity and relative ease of use.

I bought the Nate Chrony because I was tired of making small batches of slugs, shooting them, and missing some of my shot readings. I don’t think I have an adapter that fits and aligns the chrony with the main gun I was testing slugs in. I’ll keep my Nate Chrony so please don’t PM me trying to buy it. I’m not making this post trying to sell it. I’m rather acknowledging the excellent customer service from Nate and my lack of effort and understanding of tech side of the use of this device. He even offered to video call to assist me and I didn’t take him up on his offer.

This chrony may be great for some and not for others. If you’re pretty good with technology, like 3D printing, and fiddling with gadgets, then this may be for you. If you prefer a simple standalone unit, then you may want to look elsewhere.

Some fair comments about the NateChrony
It's been designed to be a more tech savvy approach to the Chrony problem, the base assumption is that "everyone has mobiles & uses the web a lot" so i'm tapping into that & probably focused on the next generation of users.
That really helps keep costs down by omitting things like a screen - reduces circuit complexity, makes it more robust etc.
I've refined the setup a lot in the last few months - QR codes in the box, friendly names instead of the IP address to type in the first time etc.
The biggest issue i've seen with setup is poor decisions from device manufacturers - i.e. Apple refusing to allow a phone to connect to a Wi-Fi if it doesnt have internet. This has been changed recently - but does show that really poor decisions can be put into production & have massive impact on its users.

Adapters - again fair evaluation, if you have lots of very, very different muzzles - it'll be a pain to have all the adapters required & probably isnt the solution for you.
Given its cheap enough (?) maybe you can have 2, check the calibration of the other unit from the NateChrony & do most of the testing on the NateChrony & test the odd ones on the other one.

theres bee times when others where here shooting and wanted to see what there guns did or at times I will pull a nipper od differant guns to shoot.
I do like the idea of saving and linking it with the smart phone

just thought I would pick your brain.

2 additional challenges i'll look to solve: BC calcs & non muzzle mount.

I'll take the same approach - minimal, cheap, reliable, bugger all spent on packaging & marketing.

I can understand this for sure. I'm glad I only have 1 odd rifle, and then my pistols, that don't work with the variable adapter or 1/2x20UNF. Although, I have some ideas I want to try with the pistols... I might be able to use it anyway. But in reality they are $15 bb pistols, so not particularly worth it.

Nate is the Man!!! Sign me up for that one, lol! That is the one reason I haven't bought the Natechrony. I don't strap anything on my gun barrels, period. I pest a ton and that is priority for my 2 pcps, poi shift is not cool. I am not happy with my Prochrono. Yes its accurate but why on earth is it even sold without the light kit?? I can only use the chrono 25% (not exaggerating)of the time, usually it's dark out, I'm indoors, or too much cloud cover/shade.

yes - something that goes downrange for BC stuff... and seamlessly hooks into the muzzle mounted NateChrony is whats planned.
Also got some other really cool design ideas to make it really awesome to use...

For me it would be more for inside my studio to film speed as I'm limited to only a few feet. Even if it was used for further ranges it would still show consistency of speed.

FYI - shipping seems to have cleared up... what was taking 7 days over xmas, went to 3-4 weeks after "tariffis on everything"
All the US warehouses filled up, so no shipments were leaving any other country - as there was no where to store packages.. it caused madness in the whole logistics chain & all my US customers were grumpy.
