The Aspen!! My first PCP. It was a good rifle until it started leaking and I couldn't get it to stop. Now it's just a paper weight.

A lot of people had bad experiences with their Aspens. My experience was thrilling. I had the pump rebuilt once, but that was only because I accidentally over aired it and blew a burst disk. Sent it back and they rebuilt the pump anyway. Never had issues with it and kept it well oiled. It was honestly the most accurate air rifle I've ever owned. Shot a sparrow off of a power line at 80 yards freehand! They're a little heavy but I still have mine.

Two guns actually, a Hatsan Vectis and an AEA HPSS Plus. The Vectis I could never get to shoot right, so I cut it up and trashed it. The AEA was always giving me trouble; stupid poppit valve and a few other issues. Gave it away. I've found out the hard way you have to pay a little for quality sometimes. However, my Stoeger XM1 scout has been a real winner so far!

Sorry to hear about your Vectis, mine has been awesome. I had originally bought it to expose it as being an all-plastic fraud and was totally won over by how good it actually is, and trouble free. Maybe I just got lucky.

Yeah, I think sometimes it's just hit-and-miss which is a shame. I've seen tons of posts about how crappy Seneca Aspens were, but I recently posted that mine was never bad and was one of the most accurate air rifles I've owned. Kinda funny that way. Currently I'm in the market for an heirloom springer; haven't decided what I want yet, but actively reading lots of reviews.

There are many beatifully stocked examples that people occasionally sell in the classifieds but you have to be checking them all the time. It's worth it though to look and bide your time. There was a thread, somewhere, in the last year or two where everyone was posting pictures of their springers and some were stunning, and none came from the factory that way. Heirlooms are made by craftsman, not produced in factories. The bean counters won't allow it anymore.
