Was able to get out for a little while today and shoot at a pumpkin… I would suggest getting a spare to test on. Didn’t know what to expect and I was pretty surprised. Hard to get fancy.

I never realized that the outer layer was a like a hard shell.

This was fun guys. It was good to see @FL22 also mix it up some. Wasn’t sure anyone would. I wanted to do the HAM logo, but quickly found out that you cannot do small designs and anything that makes a full loop blows out the design! I made it as close as I could.

Even with precise shot placement it's hard to do a really intricate design. Always some collateral damage ( chunking & chipping around the entry hole). Bigger the caliber, more the effect. Ask me how I know

I didn’t either, no practice just went for it. I think you will do fine . If it’s a total mess then just tell everyone that you were trying for abstract art .

Tip o' the day-

After topping & gutting your pumpkin, fill it with rubber mulch before shooting. Did that with mine & had zero damage to the backside.
This was with medium-ish pumpkins & ~18.6 fpe. All bets are off if you're carving with 80+ fpe
