Others TalonP Carbine, Better Late than Never!

The first night I had the TalonP, I started testing its power, in relation to its fill pressure and hammerspring settings. What I didn't know, at the time, was that the pressure guage on the gun is 350psi off. So all my original comments about shots, and power, at what levels, were wrong. The final, corrected numbers, for what I am running is; JSB 34gr MKII at avg 820fps for 10 shots, es of 30, starting at 2850psi and finishing at 2350psi with the hammerspring at 9. I like these numbers for now, but I do have some slugs on hand for testing later. I noticed that this gun loves heavy ammo, the 43gr Eugins were doing 56fpe. I don't have enough of those to really test those though. The gun with the suppressor on is not that loud at all. Everyone was telling me that if I want to run my shot string at the 50fpe level it would really bark, but that's not what I'm finding at all.
On 9 you’re probably wasting air. Mine is around 6 and its sweet spot is 2500-2000 with 7 consistent shots of hades at 882 with a 26 foot spread. Try a lower setting you’ll be surprised it still produces a ton of power at a lower pressure

Actually I wasn't, I was getting the peak of the string between 2850-2350 on 9 with the 34gr. I was doing full fills and watching the pressure while shooting down to 1850psi, at 3,6,9,12. I didn't have enough hammer for 12 at all. 9 was the one for a top of the bell curve power group. That was before I knew the tank guage was off too. Plus I have a heavier spring and a hammer weight to try too. It's never going to end with this one, I can tell that already.

That's the second version, apparently still a nuisance 🤷‍♂️

Also to comment on the statement above, I think people's preferred range of pressure will differ between weight of ammo.
Yeah, it will, and I screwed up. What I meant to say was that with the gun topping out at 3000psi, using higher than 9 on the hammer spring was a complete waste of time and a complete blow out of air, for sure, with the weight of ammo that I was using. I am going to use a heavier spring and maybe a hs weight just because I am going to try some really heavy stuff and will probably need it.

Interesting, my Texan has auto safety, but you can still de-cock the gun. 🤔
I just watched a video from a SHOT show when the Texan was introduced, like 10 years ago, and the AirForce guy was bragging on the fact that the new Texan could be de-cocked, and how people were always telling them how much they want that feature. If they were so proud of that back then, why didn't they do that for all their models??? That's what I'm talking about when I say foot dragging.

Does make it odd that they didn't retro that back to the other platforms. 😢

This is the automatic safety curse . I’ve removed mine on the Talon ss
Thanks for posting the mugshot of public enemy no. 1. I will be bringing it to justice too!

I might just mail it back to AirForce with a note on what they can do with it. Maybe then they would start paying attention. Especially since I saw the 10 year old video where they state that they are very well aware of their customers displeasure at not being able to de-cock their guns and that's why on the Texan you can.

It’s not just for de cocking they cause problems all the time with locked triggers, locked safeties….

I really need to look up the removal of the Auto-safety for my Escape SS. I like the gun a lot, but not being able to de-cock drives be bat-fecal-matter crazy. I want to get it out and really spend a full day with it. So many little things I want to do to it.

Side note, how do your tanks do when stored under pressure? I’m losing like 100-150 PSI per day with it sitting. None of my other PCP guns lose air anywhere near that fast. I filled to 3K two nights ago and haven’t shot at all. I’m around 2,600 now.

They don't, and should never, leak; even filled right up. Just gas down and change the orings.

That’s kinda what I thought. Oh well. Gives me an opportunity to tear into it. Probably going to order a new optic for it as well. I just can’t get into the Sightmark Wraith Mini. Digital just isn’t for me. Maybe a 3x or 4x prismatic?
I have been thinking about a 1x prism for the extra eye relief, no battery needed, and better for astigmitism properties too.
