This week I received my Taipan Slash Tactical in .22 with 420mm barrel. I really like almost everything about this airgun. The trigger is just as good as every other Taipan trigger I've shot. It's very quiet for the power level and very accurate.

The magazine indexing is working without any issues, but every 4-5 shots and many times every 1 or 2 shots I am finding that the trigger does not reset. I have to manually reset the trigger with the rear lever. Has anyone seen this with their Slash or happened upon a video or thread which touches on this?

I am reaching out to the vendor as well so we'll see if there's any solutions there too.

I've been studying the schematics and looking at the instructions they give for magazine indexing. The magazine indexing is definitely handled by air blowback - and there's a specific adjuster for that. That is not the issue.

I broke down the part with the trigger reset and it does not appear to be controlled by air - in fact from the way I see it, it looks like it is opening of the valve which resets the trigger. When the rifle is shot, the valve pin looks to push back on a part that resets the sear. There's an oring the valve pin slides through and I wonder if stiction there could be an issue.

Any

Any way to lube that valve pin to get it to slide more to free it up?

I tried that to no avail. I had a thought that maybe the valve pin was screwed in a little bit too much so when it went back it would not reset the sear every time. However, the two valve parts are red threadlocked together. I may have screwed up that part before sending it back - so I know I'll be paying for a replacement of that part even if getting things working is covered. It appears I am the anomaly so hopefully it's a simple fix I'm not seeing.

Well that first problem was fixed by vendor but now........ regulator problems x 2. They are not stable, have tons of creep and one blew out on me.

Story of 2 Slash's.
First regulator has completely failed and will just creep up to tank pressure over about an hour.
Second regulator has stupid slow refresh and creeps over a few days. Had the regulator set at 150 bar, gun sat for a few days and regulator was at 161.5 bar. Took a few shots and the regulator is now refreshing quickly to about 144.6 or so and then creeps up to the set point over a period of 5 minutes. This is not good.

I have to say overall I am very disappointed in the Slash. Coming from Taipan I really expected more.

Have a Huma reg on order and will update this thread once installed.

I've got a Karma SLS 25 that does the very same thing as every 4th shot or so the trigger doesn't reset and it's very frustrating. If it didn't shoot perfect groups in single shot mode I'd sell it.

I wanted to provide some update to this thread as Brian from EGW has been awesome, while Tony has been non existent for support.

Brian provided me with an updated regulator from Taipan for the Slash I purchased from him. I am happy to report that one week later this regulator is holding a solid set point with minimal creep. It tends to creep about 3-4bar over set point over half a day, but I left it when I went away and 3 days later it was rock solid right there.

In regards to the Slash from Tony, I have been in touch with Marek about the trigger not resetting while the magazine advances fine. He says he might know what the issue is and will be providing me with some new trigger bits once they complete the run. I have been trying some pellets in this Slash and the trigger does seem to reset a bit more reliably when the reg is set down under 100 bar with lighter projectiles. The 18gr pellets are doing 880fps with the reg @ 85bar.

Now I seem to be having one other issue with the barrel in the Slash from Tony. My groups are pretty terrible and I slugged the barrel to find 218 slugs going through with absolutely no rifling marks on it. Going to mess with it some more - but may need a new barrel. Hopefully a one off as the other barrel is spot on.
-----------------------------

So where does this leave me. I guess it just makes me the early adopter helping to vet the problem out. Thought I has waited long enough, but guess not.

I am very happy with the way the Slash with the upgraded reg is working right now. It's fully functioning, accurate and reliable.

Thats wild, do you know who manufacturers the barrels... CZ im guessing?
NSA does make a .219 slug but they are geared towards the Edgun Leishy's. For pellets thats a bust for sure😐
Being a trailblazer for a new pcp is definitely something I will never do! I am currently looking at a 10Yr old (give or take) Raw rifle lol.

Thats a bummer to hear. I was expecting an amazing rifle coming from Taipan but yeah being early adopters can be an issue sometimes. Im taking a plunge on the Skout Semi and hoping issues are kept to the minimum. But I at least know with Skout behind it they'll make it right no matter what so I at least have that to fall back on.

Dillon - I took the chance and took the plunge. Thought I had waited long enough for issue to be sorted - but at least Taipan is working on fixing these things up. No different than the Mora which they have been silently updating since release (I still have a first run Mora and never had an issue with it - so there is that though).

I do wonder if maybe Taipan had a bad run of regulators though versus a bad design? Have a buddy who got a 177 in the fall and his reg is still spot on.

Yeah i think sometimes we just draw the short straw it seems. I waited to get my Uragan after a long time after they came out as I heard they had reg issues. Even being tested before shipping my reg was still bad out of the box lol. Returned for a refund and waited a few more months and tried again and had 2 good ones. Being newly designed regs i think can have some slip through that go bad quick vs the tried and true regs Taipan and AGT are known for. Does seem that alot of regs seem just fine but few have popped up with regs failing. Like said could just be a bad run.

It is glad to see Taipan stepping up on the fixes. Not something they needed to do before with the Mutants and Veterans so they seemed non existent on that support before as it just wasn't needed. It's reassuring.

RTI has always been good with warranty support and rolling upgrades on models they have and continue to improve things. Glad to see others following suit.
