Southern Woods Airgun Coyote Hunting

A bit about the bear spray:

It would be wise to consider wind direction before deploying bear spray if you are not in immediate life-threatening danger. You're going to need to see what's going on with a bear close to you. You're going to want to be able to breathe in order to perform so that you can preserve life if you're in danger. Something to think about.

I agree 100%, that’s a very good point. Being retired military I’ve been through the tear gas chamber and that was no fun. Bear spray is worse, I know from one of my silly/stupid moments. Many years ago I bought a can of pepper spray for my wife. My mom, dad and wife were in the living room. I decided to spray a TINY bit in the kitchen sink to see what it was like. Bad idea, that no one appreciated. It’s like any weapon, you have to use it with good judgement and understand its risks and limitations.

LOL — you didn’t enjoy the full experience? Snot waterfall, eyes leaking like busted faucets, gagging, coughing, and trying to pretend you weren’t dying in front of everyone?

I was shocked at how quickly a small blast spread and affected people in the next room. I honestly don’t know how someone uses bear spray and doesn’t incapacitate themselves lol.

I’m in the panhandle now near Eglin/Blackwater and so it’s even thicker than NE Florida. But, I don’t see me usinfpg a climber again. Wish I could, I missing going up 25’ in swaying pines lol. Thanks for the input.
Ahhh, me too. Sounds like fun again!

I was walking around my little acre of paradise this afternoon. It’s only 1.1 acres, but I’m shocked at the amount of wildlife that comes on to my property. I have bears, cottontails, armadillos, deer and the odd coyote. I had some bear scat the other day and thought I’d see if there’s any fresh sign. Apparently last night I had a coyote. He left one by the scat and another one a little further away. It’s been over a year since I saw a coyote in the yard. I’m pretty sure it’s a coyote, the scat is dry and full of fur/hair. If I had something bigger than the Sonoran, I’d probably watch for it lol.

It could be coyote, old scat loses the key identifiers — twist, taper, diameter, and content clarity.
