I'd have to ask first , Eastern or Western dogs ? I'm in Pa & our dogs get pretty big compared to others I've seen when in the Midwest or West Coast. Would you attempt to purposely hunt Coyote with a .22 fimfire ? I've not taken any dogs myself, but family has. A neice put a couple .22's in one when a couple crossed into the cow pasture when a cow was birthing. The .22 was the handiest gun to grab. The first shot connected in the shoulders & the dog yelped , spun & stopped briefly to bite at the wound, The girl hit it again & the same reaction happened . This sent the (mate?) running then the hit dog took off also. Never recovered ,but the calf was saved & my Sister & Neice were quite shaken. My Sis has taken several deer & said the Coyote looked like young deer as far as size by comparing the height of the high tensile fence. I occasionally see Coyote at my permission and have been shown pictures from a trapper here & video of them by the farmer . I personally wouldn't try less than .30 caliber for body shots . Knowing headshots would work with smaller guns, BUT, ( most of the time )heads are a tough moving target.
I couldn't agree with you more, Airforce Texan .308 was made for coyote hunting in mind.
Hey man welcome to the forum! I have a couple of 30 caliber PCP airguns that work well for coyotes. A Gauntlet gen 2 and an AEA bullpup. I prefer the Gauntlet gen 2 as it's trigger is excellent to 1 pound so it's much easier to get a good shot off as the AEAs trigger is 5 lbs and doesn't break clean. I gave around 500 dollars a piece for them so they were cost effective. Don't need a thousand dollar gun for the coyotes unless you want to spend that much on them, that's up to you to decide. Enjoy!
Sure, and taking baby hogs too and in the great depression .22s took hundreds if not thousands of deer with head shots but if you are buying or recommending an airgun specifically to do the job of taking coyotes would it be a .22 squirrel gun? No, I don't think so. My .22 airgun can make 105FPE but most, because everyone wants 60 shots, make 26-36FPE at the muzzle only. I recommend a .30 because it is the ethical right thing to do.

The rifle shoulders and feels more like a conventional rifle than a bullpup design. Overall length is shorter so it handles easily in the field. With a 700mm barrel it makes good power. Great trigger, excellent build quality.

I’m saving up for the RAW HM1000X in .30 cal for the bigger varmints and hogs. It is reputedly super accurate, unchoked, and it likes slugs. Also built to be hardy enough for less than tender use. One day i will see for myself.
The RAW HM1000X in .30 is a great rifle, super accurate and perfect for varmints, but it’s still underpowered for hogs. Even hot‑tuned they’re usually around 100–120 FPE. My .357 Big Bore is roughly double that with only 147gr, and that’s the kind of power you really need for large hogs. The RAW is a precision varmint gun, not a big‑game platform
