Huntsman Revere

Well the wife and I will be heading out to a local match at Rio Solando with our Reveres....Should be about 40 degrees by start time, but sunny. I haven't practiced kneeling or standing so it will be interesting. In March, the 2 day Sonoran Classic will be held, so at least I have some time to get in some kneeling and standing practice....

What scope(s) are you using?

So it was a hard course for sure… I was ahead of the great Kent C. (My partner for the day) until I got 0 on standing🤬🤬🤬🤬. Kent got 3 out of 4 and took the lead by 1 point with 4 lanes to go…Well he put it in high gear and beat me 38 to 34…perfect score is 48….So we get back up top and were told there was to be a shoot off for 2nd and 3rd….People are smiling like never before….You guessed it, Barbara and I both had 34 and we both had our first miss at the same time.

Good thing we had to meet people at 2, so we flipped a coin and the boss took 2nd 😎

So 1st place, an older unregulated Huntsman, 2nd and 3rd, Huntsman Revere and if Stan got 4th, not sure yet, that would be 4 Huntsman’s….

Great day for sure, well except being beat on the coin flip 🤣🤣🤣

After the shoot last Tuesday (Damn cold ) where my wheel came loose, I thought I got it back on at the right location before Saturdays match, but maybe I didn't. So today Barb and I are going to re-range our Revere's. Friends arrive today, but I might get Mervin to shoot the Crusty Critter shoot with me tomorrow.

He is originally from London and shot a Silhouette match with me last time he was here...So maybe I can get him to wake up early and head out with me. Of course that will be after his cup of tea😂😂😂

My rifle was off by over a yard!! That explains the close up targets for sure….We all know it’s not the shooter right? It’s always the equipment 🤭🤭🤭

Well maybe it’s the wobble, bad wind read, forgetting to load a pellet, or maybe just maybe not holding over the correct amount…

💩It’s my fault for sure.

Well the Revere shot great today. 47 out of 48….wind was mild and only really needed to hold to one side or the other of the KZ to get them in on the 40-55 targets. Top score was 47 and 2 of us had 47. I had first miss so 2nd place it was.

Mervyn did pretty good hitting 34 out of 48….His last 5 lanes were 3,3,4,4,4…..He looked much more comfortable the last few lanes….

Hard to believe with the way most airguns are made today that you can buy a revere take it out of the box throw a scope on it pick your favorite slug or pullet shoot a couple to get sited in and go shoot ft , targets in the back yard, or go hunting knowing that if you do your part you’ll hit whatever you’re aiming at! Ya just gotta love a gun that looks that good and shoots as good as it looks! Ive got 2 a 177 and a 22 and while they aren’t the most powerful my 22 is my squirrel hunter.

Who else loves the revere?
Oh my, I'm in love. Gorgeous. Good in bed too I'll bet.

Ok so the good news…A Revere came in first today In HFT…Sadly it was not me 🤭. Kent C missed 1 shot today out of the 56 shot course….He had a shoot off for the Founders Cup against the none other, Lauren Parsons. Lauren hit 4 out of 4 and Kent got 3-4 on the shoot off….I think it was 3/8 inch at 40 yards and 1 inch at 53 yards…

Two different styles for sure…Kent shooting bucket and sticks HFT and Lauren shooting with an under 12 Foot Pound, bum bag, jacket no idea what it is called 🤪…Best part when the dust settle you could see them hugging each other with “Great shooting” words between them

Darn wife with her red 👻 got a 54 taking 2nd place in HFT….Me I got a 52-56 about 5th place in HFT.

There were 4 Reveres I saw, Kent, Stan, Berry and myself….A good showing for the beloved Revere.

Since this is a Revere thread......
It's pretty common to see Revere's in the top couple of slots of Hunter class field target across all three ft clubs where I attend matches.

Certainly says something about the Huntsman as a viable and very competitive option for field target, at least Hunter class.

Beautiful, awesome rifles.

Unfortunately i had some bad luck with mines. Ordered a 30 ft/lbs regulated model some months ago but got a 40 ft/lbs one with the Huma reg set at a whopping 190bar only giving 11 shots before falling off instead of the advertised 21 shots (for 40 ft/lbs while i wanted a 30 ft/lbs w 39 shots). Adjusting hammer spring to bring power down obviously is not air efficient when reg is set so high and didn't want to go in and adjust pressure as it would void warranty. So back she went. Replacement came... reg on 190bar again... same thing... huh?

Contacted Daystate support and they said it was completely normal reg pressure set so high from factory and if i didn't get shot count should go back to dealer.

Have Huma regs in my HW100 and AA S510 and 115-120 bar reg pressure is about the sweet spot for 30fpe keeping the rifle air efficient w great shot count.

Can't flaunt the rifle at all. Light, well balanced and easy to handle, not ammo fussy and shot like a laser. Its a dream rifle. Just don't understand what Daystate is about with their reg pressure theory. What a load of bs that was...

Got a refund in end but now i'm kicking myself, should have kept it and changed myself, i miss her.
My 22 Revere is also came set at 190 bar, and AoA recommended the JSB Exact Jumbos, which it loves and fires them ~890 ft/s; 28 ft-lbf. at ~35 yards on bench pads....its one ragged hole...
Having a higher reg pressure and backing off the hammer spring is more efficient use of air, as the air has more energy and you are therefore using less to get your "tune". The downside is the higher the reg pressure the less difference you have between the bottle and the regulator...But I definitely get more than 11 shots...I will keep track next time I shoot it.
What has been on my list since learned about "tuning" is to see if I can back off on it's hammerspring while maintaining its current velocity.
