Alpha/Delta Wolf Has Daystate fixed the barrel issues with the Alpha/Delta Wolf? Are they worth buying?

I didn't hop on the band wagon for the original Delta Wolf, but I did buy an Alpha Wolf shortly after they were released. I followed along the upgrade path with firmware and installed an Ultra Valve when they became available. I really did like everything about the airgun except for the barrels. I had gotten a .177 barrel with the rifle which was very accurate. But I wanted to multi-use the Alpha so I also got .25 and .30 23" barrel setups. I can't tell you how bad these barrels were. The .25 wouldn't stay on a sheet of letter size paper at 100 yards and the .30 was about 6-8" groups at 100.

I had a friend who purchased a .30 Ghost and also had terrible accuracy issues with the 23" barrel.

I know there are those who shoot these in competition, so there are good barrels out there. But how do I know I'm getting a good barrel. For $3500 and a claim of getting an ART barrel, the ones I got in the past looked someone dragged a tool through it. ART my rear-end.

So do I stick with my Red Wolves or is the Delta Wolf Performance worth another look.

It kind of makes you wonder. All their flagship models come with the ART barrel which is supposed to be their best barrels in the lineup. I don't hear any problems with their entry level Huntsman Revere having accuracy issues. Maybe it's just related to their .25 and .30 cal barrels?

Oh man you too? The Ghost has been no better as far as complaints.....Plenty of unhappy people with their .30 barrels. FYI my .22HP will do 3.5 inch with Mrds @100Y/10shot groups. I asked Brk/Daystate on Ham officially if they would issue a warranty/return on their new Slug barrels (I'm dying to get one) but if the answer is: sucks to be you if you get a lemon then I'll pass. So far they havent responded 😮‍💨
No one is gonna pony up for a slug barrel and be happy if it can't shoot good groups and now their stuck with it. My .22 fouled super quick till I polished barrel and lubed my pellets with Ballistol....now it's doing well. Have you polished your barrel by chance?

I just recently acquired a several year old delta wolf from A of A used inventory. Now I haven’t shot it a bunch nor at long ranges, 50 being the furthest. Yesterday I did a good 50 to 60 shots with FX 25.39 pellets and they were pretty much moa at 50. Earlier in the week I did some work with FX 33.95. I was concentrating more on finding a tune than accuracy, not using the greatest rest, just a bipod with no rear support but the accuracy at 50 was really good. I suspect they will be right there with the 25.39. Not seeing this in my barrel. Now are your barrels really good at 50 and just fall apart further? I don’t shoot much past 70.

Brk/Daystates are great in .177 and .22, I've just heard issues mostly with the .25/.30 barrels (a caliber unheard of in a Brk till the Ghost) My stance is and always has been; for 3k plus it should be accurate outta the box, or I shouldn't have to do much to make it great. Neither of my AA guns (half the cost each) required a thing.

Glad mine doesn’t seem bad. Had I heard this before I would have been very apprehensive to buy it thinking that was why it was traded. Pretty sad as barrels should be pretty elementary these days. Look what 300 dollar China guns are doing.

The .25 slug barrel shoots marvelously the JSB KO slugs 33.4gr and the ZAN 40gr.

Hey welcome to Ham! I've seen your videos...any plans on making any more? That is the L.W. 1:17 slug barrel?

My .25 DW HP. 25 gr going around 900 fps. 34 gr about 880. Both pellets FX variants. Think speeding the 34 may tighten. Plus these are basically first swing tunes on advanced mode.

To be honest no they still have problems. To be clear it is the same LW barrel that is in any BRK / Daystate gun, which has limitations but the issue is all the speed sensing equipment on the end of the barrel that disturbs the harmonics and creates inaccuracies. I got around this by running in the manual mode (better SD's) and stripping all the gear off the end of the barrel. Still run the stock air splitter and shroud this will give better accuracy. I'm going to start another thread to explain all the different designs I have experimented with and the new barrels which I'm going to sell. (see Glenn's new Ghost, Delta, Alpha barrels)

Hmmmm..... I was hoping I would get a better response than I am here. It's too bad that Daystate hasn't taken the barrel issue seriously in the Ghost and Wolf platforms. I think I'll continue to wait this one out for a bit longer and see what American Air Arms comes out with for their HPS line in 2025. My .30 money may go in that direction as my Red Wolf Heritage .30 is just about MOA at 100 yards with the AEA 45gr pellets.

We are on the eve (i sincerely hope!) of being able to buy 28inch (.22 & .25) slug barrels in North America so yeah like the rest of us...keep on waiting just a little longer?😮‍💨 the .30s I recall are last to come out...I've been waiting since recieving my Ghost last March for a Slug barrel... Your gripe is mainly with the stock 23inch pellet barrels as equipped? A Sub-moa barrel may be a good option for you as well. No manufacturer has a perfect barrel track record sadly...that is why Submoa barrels exists!

Yes - my complaint has been with the 23" pellet barrels. I do realize there is a barrel lottery even with the most expensive barrels; however, as already noted the Red Wolf barrels have all been really good.

My understanding of an ART barrel - when they started coming out with that term with the Red Wolf - is that each barrel was hand inspected and worked over until it was super accurate. So each barrel was known good and was special. Now it just seems like they've started using the term generically for a barrel design rather than a hand lapping of the barrel and even BRK Ghost come with ART barrels - so ART = bs? What was once a great thing is now a marketing gimmick. So sad.

My 30 cal ghost 23inch barrel shoots a dream … what set up and pellets are you struggling to get accuracy with ?
Lucky you got a good barrel - otherwise you would understand.

I'm not trying to get any tune going anywhere. I offloaded my Alpha Wolf just over a year ago and went back to the Red Wolf.

So those with bad .30 barrels did they group at 50 and just fall apart at longer range or just bad overall? Trying to get a more clear picture of the possible problem. In the future I would really like to get a .30 barrel for my delta wolf. They are too expensive to get a bad one though.
