Benchrest Online Benchrest Competition Rules

Generally on double shots on one Bull it is scored the lower of the Two shots!
That’s not the case with the major 100yd events, they score the higher shot. I will try to figure out how the ELEY app scores everything. The idea behind using the ELEY app is that it organizes the match, scores the targets and keeps track of the series with minimal intervention. If we turn this into a project where someone has to score and tally the scores etc., I doubt it will get off the ground. No one wants to even be a referee 😁.

A bit counter intuitive, so what’s to stop people from taking more than 1 shot?? I believe BR 50 has it appropriate with lowest scores? Carry On 🤣

If you take an extra shot, you get penalized -10. Each shot over 25 in the target area results in -10 points and so there would be no incentive in taking an extra shot. With the two shots on the same target, the assumption is that you missed the adjacent target. If you have one hit on the same target that’s a 10 and one that’s a 5, you score a ten, but the assumption is that you also have a target that has a zero for a 10 out of a possible 20 points. If the assumption is wrong and your other 24 targets all have one pellet strike, you may have scored a 10 vice a 5, but you also get hit with a -10 for that second pellet. Now, I don’t know how ELEY scores it, but I’d assume probably however 50m Benchrest does. I’ll find out. A quick glance indicates it will score it similar to N50, lower score and -1 penalty.

I can tell you from using this app over the past winter in our indoor league, taking the photo for scoring is the hardest part. For the best results, make sure your target is flat. If shooting on a backer board, it's best to paint it black; this helps a lot. Double-check the score; you can delete it and take another scoring picture. Sometimes you need to take several scoring pics to make sure your score matches what you are seeing for the score. When taking the pictures make sure you camera is centered and level when taking the picture for the most accurate scoring. It is an easy app to use, though! This will be a fun event!

Thanks for sharing that. I went to the dollar store and paid $1.25 For a black poster board. I haven’t tried it yet. Personally I hope this takes off and we can have two different levels of competition. One league for just some fun, shoot what ya got competition and another one with more defined rules for somewhat serious competition. But as Pan60 stated, it’s all, based on honor and integrity. You have the ability to review the score that the app gives you and editing it if you don’t agree or retake it. As Duchunter007 mentioned, how you take the photo is also important. I will work on some tutorials and tips to help.

Where it looked questionable to me, pushed a pellet through. I didn’t agree with target numbers 4 and 25 although they canceled each other out scoring wise.

I made a holdover error on target number 23 and shot 18 twice. It assigned a 10 for target number 18 and zero for 23.

Hopefully, I will get another opportunity for a second card this weekend.

I will need some help with it, every time I try to enter into the competition, it wants me to connect a scoring camera. I can view the target details, but that’s it.
Don’t go there to enter your pics. Go to 1 click scoring take a pic of your target and save or not till you are happy. Then go to performance scroll downto comp mode scroll down to bills comp click that scroll down to fl22 add pics

Try taking the picture when you have the target hanging on your stand, one thing I have figure out is that you the camera needs to be centered and level on the target, if you are at any type of an angle it will not score it right. once you take the picture and click on save it will give you the accuracy of the scoring, if it is a low percentage then click again and take another picture and check again, also I do not zoom in, the reason I say to score the target while hanging is that the bits of paper from the pellet going through have not had a chance to fold back in, and the best backer for the target is the plastic sign boards you see like for houses for sale, and in painted black or order in black.

This is what I order then cut in half:

I use the corroplast “open house” signs for backers. I’m going to play with it some more today. The humidity and heat here is rough.
The fact that domed pellets don’t leave a nice hole doesn’t help. I push a same caliber slug through the holes and it helps a lot. The idea is to push the folded paper back out without enlarging the hole and keep it centered. Once you realize how ELEY scores the target it all makes more sense. If you were to make the hole slightly larger by accident, it shouldn’t change the score. If you look at the target image while scoring, you will see a blue circle over the pellet hole. That blue circle is what the app is using to score. I’ve shot both .30 and .22. The blue circle is .22” and is centered on what the app has determined is the center of your shot. With a .30, the circle is inside of your pellet hole and it only matters if the circle touches the scoring ring. For example if your .30 pellet hole breaks the 9 ring, but the blue circle does not, your target will be scored as an 8. That’s what makes it caliber agnostic, everything is scored from the center of the shot as a .22. From what I can tell you can only edit the shots before you save the target. In the competition mode only the referee can edit the target and he/she can only edit the score and Xs.
The competition that is posted is there for everyone to get comfortable with how it works.
