Notos New to HAM and Airsystems but an old gun guy

How often should it be degassed? In your opinion.
And I assume its just fire it until empty. I dont see any other way.

Only when cleaning it, store it with air. Check the manual about dry firing. My Origin could not be.

I think it’s a toss up. Unless the manufacturer states otherwise ( like my S510 to keep the barrel lightly oiled ). Because you’re getting into that debate about consistency of barrel cleaning.

I personally tend to follow a manufacturer’s guidelines. Unless I see it as self serving, like your Notos for example the manual pushes you towards
RWS pellets and cleaning supplies, well Umarex owns RWS.

Especially when it comes to pellets, recommending one specific brand?? I would laugh in their faces period.

As often as you cock it and place part of your body in front of the muzzle or have it pointed towards walls or objects you don’t want damaged when trying to clean or work on the gun. There’s usually a screw that can be incrementally loosened to degas an airgun. Some can be degased by incrementally loosening the manometer (gauge). I’d consult your owners manual and parts lists for details. If you can find videos on YouTube that’s been helpful for me.

Its a small tube, so unsure if there is a degasser valve available maybe? It has a removable valve to air it. Youd think they have something to slowly release it, unless it wasnt meant to come out that way

Absolutley.

I trust real users and reviews over company guidelines. They just want your allegiance (and money).

I prefer to test and evaluate the best available and not what a company owns.

Even Umarex cleaning kits are pretty genaric. The mainstream airgunners use what works. Youd think they would just go along with the masses and make what others prefer.

I am about to drop serious coin on foster fittings. About 150 bucks. If Im gonna do it, Im doing it right.

I certainly dont want a busted fitting cause damage to either the gun or compressor.

I trusted the HAM editor review on this site for advice on what to use since theres no standard

Oh boy just throwing my 2 cents in here, but do NOT degass your air rifle unless doing repairs!! (Or you own a Skout Epoch) There is 100% no reason to mess with that to clean it, and doing so frequently will up your chances of leaks. Pull mag, make 101% sure it is unloaded, decock, and clean away. The only o-ring in your barrel you will encounter is the one at the breech. Pull patches until clean, I alternate wet patch, dry patch, wet patch, etc. I agree that if it is shooting well don't clean it unless it's been a year or so. To be honest I have never cleaned my guns more than twice a year?! I own 4 of those patchwork kits and enough patches to clean all your guns....No that wasn't an invitation @FL22

gotcha !At some point i may get the plenum kit. I would like to get a decent side mounted gauge to look at vs the front.

Wait are we still talking about the Notos? It can be a money pit for sure if you get too excited about it. Be careful. A Toyota Camry is still a Camry even with a body kit, exhaust and a turbo. Best advice from someone who’s had almost everything slow down just enjoy it then get a Supra. I’ve spent more $$ than I should in this hobby. Learn from me

I also have an inexpensive folder coming, so I may upgrade the pistol grip. Nothing really wrong with it as it is, but it needs a cheek riser. Im gonna look at adjustable nylon strap on style ones.

I will shoot the 400 round I have and maybe test out some other types.

I dont see myself ever buying a 2000+ dollar air gun ever. For that money, it would certainly be a high power bolt in 6.5 CM. Which is still gonna happen as well, but as far as airguns go, the Notos seems to do everything I could ask for in a critter/pest control, taregt and all around fun plinker carbine all in under a grand with GX compressor.

I wouldnt buy a toyota these days, or anything else with a turbo 4 cylinder. Supra? good car. Im more of a mustang kind of guy. V8 or go home.....lol (Except for my scooter)

Hop up parts and techokool add ONS are all part of the PCP rabbit hole ( aka money pit) . I guess if it's somthing your liking it don't matter if it's a 100$ gun or 2000$ gun . You think it's worth it and enjoy what's involved that's all that matters ..
