Introductions New to HAM! Hello from Oklahoma City, OK!

I've been pretty hungry in parts of my life but I don't think I ever been that hungry.. yet...
Iguana hungry.....You got to be pretty desperate to eat them. Ill stick to frog legs and gator bites thank you. Outside of that, I dont care if you can make a snake taste like gumbo, its still a snake. (Just dont step on snak)🐍

In south Florida yes, too cold in the winter for them to thrive where I live. But I have eaten iguana many years ago, I had a coworker from Honduras that wanted me to try his family’s recipe. I remember it being very spicy.
Not sure I would try that. I have eaten some pretty sketchy things in my time overseas though, but that was more or less to be polite. ( Ever heard of foot bread? ) I never asked how its made.......:censored:

Welcome !

I just got the GXpump CS4-I if your going to get a nice pump. I got it directly form them, using thier code and if you qualify for discount. Good deal at 624 delivered.

My GX CS4 12 volt compressor was delivered today from Amazon. I got the lightning deal offered by them so had to take them up on their offer of $454.00 with two day shipping within 2 hours. This bad boy is a lot heavier than my GX CS3 compressor! Got a working unit that didn't get destroyed on the way here so that's a plus. It's pressure gauge is off by 400 psi so I had to set the needle accordingly to fill my rifle correctly. She doesn't even get warm filling my 5 liter bottle or break a sweat with the water cooling! I like that it's quieter than my other compressors as well. We're going to enjoy using this one for years to come.

I have read HAM articles that came up in Google searches, but only recently joined. I have found the articles and threads in HAM to be immensely helpful in buying decisions, technical questions and teaching technique.

After a couple of break barrel nitro piston rifles, I started with a Benjamin Maximus PCP and after a couple years I acquired a Marauder. I am a backyard hunter and paper shooter. I only recently learned that there are Field Target shoots in OKC. So now I am Field Target curious.

I look forward to participating here

Awesome deal brother !!

Thats a steal. I agree, the gauge is off a little on mine as well. I try to fill to 3500 for my rifle fill, but its always a little lower. Maybe around the same 400-500. I prefer to just not go to the redline on my bottle anyway, since I dont know which one I trust more. Figure, I am still getting about 20 good shots per fill anyway, so not concerned. I may eventually get a bigger bottle, but like you said, it hardly gets even warmed up. Much quieter than expected as well. I treat my pump to the indoors of my office, so I dont have to worry about it getting condensation/rust or environmental issues in a damp garage.

Happy for you! It’s nice to have the right equipment.
And, thanks for joining the group!

Mines in the nice cool air conditioning right next to a vent! I went with distilled water and water wetter for the pump. Mine was full of black chunks that took 10 rinses of running the pump to get it all out! It looked like it had pepper flakes in the tank.

Yeah, mine was a little dirty but not that bad. Just a little dark water, that looked like tiny metal black dust. I too used distilled, but I heard/read a few things against water wetter. Mainly that any kind of anti-freeze type stuff takes away from the actual cooling ability of the water. Hence why most radiators use both water and coolant combined. Some believe water alone in the pump is best, but I am sure its fine regardless. I figure that I most likely will never need it to cool it down because im only using it once for a minute or two, then going to shoot for 15-20 minutes. Its plenty cooled down by then. I doubt I will ever heat mine up to the point of needing a coolant additive. At least for now. Happy shooting !

I'll probably go with antifreeze and distilled water mix after running it for a week or so. Have run it for an hour total so far so just getting it broke in. It's nice that It's quieter than my other compressors too. It doesn't have the loud clanking sound the others make which is nice!

I never had one before, but watched a lot of videos that depicted that loud clanking noise.

Getting a quiet pump was pretty high in my needs. Can't understand why most every other pump manufacturer never considers that part important. Especially if your a hunter, I can't imagine doing the car hook up and then scare every living thing in a mile radius away.

Welcome to HAM. I'm also new here and in Oklahoma as well. Use to live in Moore but got my fill of, foundation slab exposing, tornadoes. So I moved to the eastern side of the state where there is an elevation change to cut down on the possibility of 1½ mile wide long track bundles of joy.

Well welcome from a fellow Okie and I hope you enjoy your day.
Mike
