FX changed the form factor to compete with the Garmin Xero and Athlon Rangecraft. They also lowered their price to around $500 which is more competitive with the Garmin unit. Plus there appear to be features on this unit that the Garmin and Athlon do not posses, like the ability to calculate BC. I’m not sure how this unit accomplishes that, but I think it’s worth exploring if that’s important to you. Here’s a curious thing, it can track velocities up to 4500 fps, but only calculates BC of projectiles traveling up 1280 fps. I wonder why limited this unit to only calculating BC of projectiles topping out around 1280 fps.

I was wondering why they’d discontinued the FX True Ballistics Chronograph. Sucks to be the guy who is stuck with a True Ballistics unit if these units perform similarly and FX doesn’t continue support and firmware upgrades.

PRS Mode features look pretty slick.

I received and email with $499.99 as the stated price. Who knows if this will change?

Interesting, I did not know about this or that the True Ballistic was being discontinued. I’m thinking about a new chronograph. I haven’t decided if I want to replace my Garmin or keep it and get a different chronograph. I need one that can feed realtime results into a project that I’m putting together. The Garmin C1 is available for $399 now. I was looking at the compact Labradar, but this looks real interesting.

@Billm I viewed the info on it being discontinued here.

Some vendors still have some in stock. FX’s site has info on them but no link directing me where to purchase a True Ballistics Chronograph. I’m left to believe that they have been discontinued. Didn’t care much really. I’d looked into buying one, then saw that and figured my Rangecraft is good enough for now. This morning I got an email about the new model so, I’m in no rush to get something that hasn’t been fully developed and widely accepted by competitive airgunners.

Thanks good information. Yes, sometimes it hurts to be first. But, I’m a nerd and a glutton for punishment.

@Billm Here’s what’s on FX’s site on the True Ballistics Chronograph

I saw another page with software updates, but again no links guiding viewers to purchase.

I bit the bullet and have the Pocket Pro arriving on Thurs/Fri.. Now I have to decide on whether or not to sell the Garmin.

Thanks for posting this @Ezana4CE, I do love competition!!! These are the best units for most airgunners needs, the True Ballistics is a clunky beast, and too rich for my blood to get a few readings.
FX has many options out but i refuse to buy something that can't read above 1200fps either....this thing might just be the bees knees!
I will be watching intently to see how it performs!

I’m glad Ezana4ce started this thread. I really wanted three things that my Garmin doesn’t have and I know the new FX does have:
1. Realtime speed data that can be fed into a video switcher - the FX does via the app and a usb-hdmi cable from my phone or iPad.
2. BC calculation. Right now I place my Garmin near the target and shoot a string for the 100yd part. I dread a ricochet taking it out.
3. Easier screen to read in lowlight. I think the FX large text will work.
I wasn’t ready to buy yet, but I think it will be a good seller and I didn’t want to wait months for one.
I’m curious if it is as accurate as the Garmin. Thomas airguns, recently posted his findings on chronograph accuracy and he ranked Garmin #1. But, he didn’t mention FX. If they are within a few feet of each other I don’t care.
