Since there seems to be a lot of guys here with or getting ghosts i thought id give a couple of my thoughts on tuning. It seems a lot of guns are coming at 165 bar and in my experience that is just wasting air. I have a hp ghost for field target which when i first got it was way over 20 fpe at muzzle. I could only get below at 80 bar and hammer wheel was basically useless the the only way to adjust velocity was very fine (very!) reg adjustment and that was with then the lightest ( 12 fpe) hammerspring. Then i got the spring kit and the lightest spring was lighter still. Now im at 100 bar and pw 11 the wheel has adjustment too.
Now in 22and 25 im mostly shooting with the stock hammer spring but im shooting heavy projectiles too! To shoot very light projectiles a lighter spring and lower reg might be better. For heavy projectiles im at 135 bar
Need to add the 25 i hit a tune right away that was very accurate after polishing the barrel. The 22 i also hit a tune @ 960 fps with mrds that was very accurate but i got a lot of flyers. 22 saw the least tuning

Now with 30 cal it came to me with high reg (165) shooting 50’s at i think it was 950. I couldn’t get below 900 fps or 80 fpe even with the reg turned down and pw on 1 so out came the black spring and in went the red now at 120 bar pw 16 im at 79 fpe 36 shots
Something else ive noticed is from 17 or 18 to max on the power wheel velocity change is very small irregardless of reg Pressure also sd in that area is generally higher than if you go to 17 or less. My sd went from almost 3 to 1.5 with 13 gr jsb slugs at 134 bar 1030 fps to 1016 fps
Im not necessarily the writer that @Franklink is ( frank link has written a good deal about the ghost- good stuff)but these are things I’ve discovered that will hopefully help some of you guys out when tuning your ghosts! Chuck

If anyone else comes up with something different or unusual please add. This is us trying to help us!
Eddited a few things for clarity

My .22 Ghost HP with 600mm 1:30 twist experience: Shot it for a good year at the factory 165Bar to do it justice before playing around. Barrel polish was necessary about 3 or 4 months in. Began adjusting Reg last month and at 100 Bar my hammer wheel does almost nothing. The goal was to be able to shoot 18gr on minimum and 25.39gr on 15 accurately with same reg pressure. It is simply not possible, @100B the 18gr were still doing 945 (was 998fps @ 165B on min) Currently at 125Bar now and 18.13 ammo is going 1040fps on min 🤔?? With the stock spring the LIGHTEST ammo a .22 HP will shoot well is 20gr lights and it has to be on min. I will update this post but I'm guessing I will settle on about 140-150bar. I never shoot with wheel set on max either as it sounds very wasteful on air. OE tune was 55 shots a fill/975fps/H.W. @ 15/Reg @165 for overall best accuracy with Mrds. No other ammo came close.

Have you put a lighter hammer spring in ? If not get 1 and give it a shot. By my reckoning you need a blue. Your situation is like my 30 cal situation above and you most likely have a red now. Red is hp blue is for 17” and with the blue you can go lower on grains but still have enough power with 23” barrel to push 25 to probably 900 anyway

You guys need to remember unless you order over the phone and ask for a specific tune these guns seem to be coming with a max power tune! If you have 1 like that and want a versatile tune to say shoot 18-25 gr your gonna need a lighter spring and there’s probably going to be a bit of compromise somewhere. And this is for hp guns not necessarily the ones with 17” barrel

I setup a ghost 22 trying to find a tune for you guys to go from 18 -25 gr but the blue spring will only take the 18 at 130 bar to 960 fps on min.
I think the white spring might do i but ill have to pull it out of my 177

Ok so if you want a versital tune on your ghost you will have to choose 20-25 grain or 14-20 grain the first you want a blue or red spring and reg around 120-130. For the second you want a white spring and reg set around 100-120 With the white spring the fastest i could get a 25.3 to go was 840 fps and of course the 18 went 980 and down to 730. At a 130 bar with white both went lower. Sorry guys can’t have it all. Perhaps with the orignal .047 white spring for 12 fpe which sits between white and blue. Oh and this is with a 23” barrel!

Thanks for testing this!! It is as I feared😮‍💨... my Ghost is gonna stay on its (fussy) diet of Regular and Deep Mrds mainly. I had the 20gr lights doing real well on minimum @30Y but stretched out I'd get some opening up as they were still going too fast imo. My extreme spread has not been great either, but I believe all the barrel polishing, slug testing, reg adjusting hasn't helped!

Oh how sweet it is when you get things just right! Ghost 22 cal aea 25.3 gr pellets 23” barrel 130 bar pw 5 red spring

Well....show us some groups with that combo!😆😍
I have a quick question about my Ghosts Reg: While shooting it this weekend (reg at 150 Bar) it crept down to 140, while the tank was 160-170B still. While refilling it to max in the house with AC the reg remained at 140 so I bumped it back up to 150. How long does it usually take to stabilize the reg? It's still giving me the same fps & power numbers at 150B vs the factory 165B so I intend to keep it at 150. Thanks.

I would say that it might vary on temp and humidity and if you have a lot of grease etc in around the reg. You have to remember the reg controls the air in that big block of aluminum

Also those gauges are not the best. I switched to an electronic gauge on a couple of our ghosts and I like them.

I’m seriously considering replacing the Sonoran gauges with the electronic ones. I think my reg gauge is ok but the fill gauge is off by a lot. Not to mention that I struggle to read them lol. All of my other gauges match up with the compressor gauge. If the compressor gauge is off, I’m really screwed lol.

Oh....they've been upgraded trust me...
Big clear Huma 28mm! My Hill hand pump and Hill compressor gauges match the fill gauge perfectly so I know that's not the issue here? I never touched the reg for over a year. Now having adjusted down to 125 and going back up, I have needed to keep bumping reg up slightly while shooting it to keep it at my preset.

Ghost trigger question: without any mods, what’s the lowest trigger pull weight possible for target shooting? I adjusted mine down in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and it’s still heavy (in the context of match shooting) compared to my Sonoran. My Sonoran is the lightest airgun trigger that I have now. I adjusted the Sonoran IAW the manufacturer’s instructions and could only get it down to about what my Ghost is now. I was given some sage advice and without any mods I was able to safely get it down to a respectable match weight. I would really like to get my trigger weights down to what my FWB 300s could do, but that seems unobtainable (safely) with the more powerful PCPs.

Definitely attainable with the Ghost trigger but you MUST repl (or chop) the 2 springs then. The one in the back on linkage and the actual second stage spring. @Franklink has done a nice write up on it and Sub-12 Airgunners has a video or 2 on it. I too will be working on my Ghost trigger at some point....has some gritiness, second stage creep and a little too stiff. Sadly my $150 20yr old springer even has a better trigger😂🙄

Really you can get it to 6-8 oz by replacing 1 spring. Check old posts the hardest part is having the rod exactly the same length as it was when you started.
