Did you see the price they are charging for the Halos? They said originally that they were going to be priced competitively compared against premium pellets, well they threw out that idea and now they are priced like long range slugs. The halos start shipping Monday and CCI states that the .22 slugs are available now on their website.
Well, they probably figure it’s been so long since they promised them, that we’ve already forgotten what they promised LOLDid you see the price they are charging for the Halos? Thanks! It will save me the trouble, I'll just take your word for it.I ordered some Halo slugs. I’ll give them a try.
They’re definitely overkill for Starlings in my opinion. I’m just curious of how accurate they are. I can’t get my head around how the ,22 has become the holy grail of slug calibers. I understand it for the various competition disciplines. But, it has really become the center of gravity for ELR type hunting slugs. If the Panthera doesn’t workout (no reason to think it won’t) Asa benchrest gun, hopefully I can convert it to .22. Though it seems like every other other manufacturer, they advertise easy caliber changes, but don’t make the parts available. Thanks! It will save me the trouble, I'll just take your word for it.
The video from UA showing Sawyer blow-up that starling is going to sell a lot of these. I've got to admit that I almost ordered some reflexively. On just a moment of reflection, I realized how bad of an idea that was to be shooting up at starlings with lead buckets. My 10.03gr Mk3 KOs are doing me just fine.
I do wonder how they are going to do on big porcupine. I would guess not as well as a less explosive design.
Truthfully, the past three years have really mixed me up for what I thought I needed to do what. Everything has changed with higher power and better ammunition. My opinion of the .30 has been curtailed, the .177 has gained new relevance, the .25 alone has remained steady, but my opinion of the .22 has skyrocketed! Whodathunkit?![]()

It became a good caliber out of necessity, it could have easily been something else, that's just what some were limited too and they made the best of it. Thinking on it, I think, in terms of power and what I want to do with an airgun, it does make sense to me now. I don't want to go over .22lr power but I want all the distance that I can get out of 100fpe. With the new higher performing slugs even with less power than a rimfire at the muzzle, the airgun does better at distance. That is so cool to me.They’re definitely overkill for Starlings in my opinion. I’m just curious of how accurate they are. The 22 thing was driven from the beginning by matt and the sa boys as thats what their limited to there without a special license and matt working with fx really started the push.It became a good caliber out of necessity, it could have easily been something else, that's just what some were limited too and they made the best of it. Yeah, I know, I figured around this audience, everyone already knows that. It seems that a lot of people don't want to acknowledge Matt when he has done a lot of the work on this and they should be thanking him, and anyone, who has moved things forward. He got trashed in recent years for being on YouTube and people were saying that to imply that he actually couldn't compete, until he shows up here and wins big competitions, than they just straight up say they don't like him. Unbelievably petty. I like this website because most of those people aren't here. The 22 thing was driven from the beginning by matt and the sa boys as thats what their limited to there without a special license and matt working with fx really started the push.
Me too lol. I like his videos, also Hunter Gerhardt, Danas, Shooting Gear Reviews, Andy’s Airgun Reviews and quite a few others.Yeah, I know, I figured around this audience, everyone already knows that. I have a slug capable .22 but the diameter of those slugs is way too small for it. I need .221, so pretty much have to go with AVS.Well, they probably figure it’s been so long since they promised them, that we’ve already forgotten what they promised LOL
The CCI are only 16.99 but I don’t have a slug capable.22.
Ok never mind I just ordered two packages to try outLooking forward to your review on the Halos, I was going to order some this morning and the price slowed me down![]()
Don't feel too bad about it, I have impulse bought new ZAN releases, straight from the factory. The shipping is outrageous, but time is short.Ok never mind I just ordered two packages to try out![]()
