Bolt Action First time shooting a Bushbuck

Boy's and I are getting ready for a pig/deer hunt in Texas in a few weeks and a friend loaned me his bushbuck. It took 3 rounds to get all dialed in at 50 yards.

then we shot this 2 shot group at a rock 110 yards out to verify the dope I was given.

All off of bucket and sticks

That will do pig, that will do

Well a used carbine just made it to my front door on Saturday. (Looks damn new to me) Kip and I are going to go through it at AoA on Monday and I hope to have it set up for the hunt.

EdGun had 2 used Bush Pigs. I ordered 1. Supposed to be here tomorrow. Slow to ship, took a week to get it out, but couldn’t pass on the price. If you want one, I’d jump on the last one.

I bought some high arc hunters from AOA when I bought my full size bushbuck. Can’t remember the weight, I’ll check later tonight. I haven’t shot any of them though. I keep trying to finalize my scope set up on it before I shoot them much. I really need some lower rings for it. I feel like I have to get a chin weld instead of a cheek weld when I shoot.

I also bought a case of .452 cowboy slugs to get out and shoot it on the cheap. They don’t group great, but 500 for $60 is a big draw.

High Arc Hunters 365 grain...I am shooting them at 775 out of the Carbine with the Emperor Moderator.....Funny thing is without the moderator they shoot 755

I’m ecstatic to get the pig. 365 here as well. I just checked. 250 grain on the cowboys.

What a great looking setup! How far have you stretched out your shots so far?

is anyone shooting round balls out of a Bushbuck or Bushpig? How about NSA slugs? Is the barrel twist rate compatible with shorter slugs or does it only like heavy slugs? I’ve only seen videos of guys shooting heavy slugs from what I recall.
