Bolt Action First time shooting a Bushbuck

@Rwjeter So how’s the Bushpig shooting? Is it what you thought it would be?

I love it. The safety is a huge add for me and I like the feel of the chassis better. The original bushbuck stock sits too low, even with it adjusted, to get a comfortable cheek weld IMO. This gets it higher, and with the PRS stock I swapped, it’s perfect. I have it zeroed for first shot at 50 with the 365’s. I want to try it at 100 next. No consistency with the bulk cowboy slugs, but they’re good to let friends shoot without wasting good slugs. As with many others I’ve found that I get better speed and power only airing it to 4000.

@Rwjeter Sounds like a good report. Which brand of 365 grain slugs did you shoot (cast or swaged)? Have you shot any other grain weights? “…only airing airing it to 4000psi?” What’s the max fill pressure? How many good shots are you getting perr fill?

High Arc Hunters I bought from AoA. They’re the only ones other than the cowboy slugs I bought. Max fill is 4500 psi. Really two potent shots. The second about 60 fps less than the first I really need to invest in a larger bottle and reg so I can tether

With my Carbine the sweet spot was 4100 psi….anything more or less the FPS suffered. 775 FPS with the emperor moderator on it. It slowed down to 750 without mod.

High arc Hunters shoot great out of it.

I’m also running an emperor on mine. I’ll definitely try 4100 next outing.

Definitely high arcs are the winners this far in mine. Have you tried any other projectiles in yours?

We tried some 400+ flat nosed slug they had and it was a hammer. I didn’t grab any because the HAH grouped so good.

@Pesty3782 Sounds like some heavy slugs. Which brand were those? Cast or swaged? What’s the heaviest weight slug these rifles can handle?
