Benjamin .22 Caliber Match Grade Pellets – Exclusive Sneak Peek!

If you have been waiting for the Benjamin .22 Caliber Match Grade Pellets, Hard Air Magazine has an exclusive sneak peek for you!

It’s like this…

I was visiting Velocity Outdoors’ corporate HQ in Bloomfield, New York for a meeting on a different topic and – somehow – I left with a couple of tins of the new pellets!

What I can confirm is that the single die, 14.3 Grain Benjamin .22 Caliber Match Grade Pellets are, indeed, in production and ready for imminent shipping. I heard a date of January 2024 and – judging from what I saw – that looks to be a very achievable timeline.

So this is what the new pellets look like.

These Benjamin .22 Caliber Match Grade Pellets are the second in the forthcoming range of high quality, “single die” pellets from the U.S. manufacturer. The development process and thinking has already been described in this previous HAM story.

As you will recall, the initial introduction was in .177 caliber. The results were very good indeed, earning them a prestigious HAM Gold Award on test.

The .22s definitely look good too!

In our previous story, we highlighted the company’s efforts to provide batch number information for the discerning customer.

As with the .177s, the new .22 caliber Benjamin Match Grade Single Die Pellets are packed with twelve 400-count tins to a master pack. This means that – if you order 12 tins from the Benjamin Airguns website – you will receive one master pack and that all the pellets will be from the same die.

Should you order 12 tins from another source, you would be dependent on that dealer keeping the master packs whole and shipping a complete one to you.

The Benjamin folks are currently finalizing the way in which the batch number will be displayed. In the sample tins I have, the batch number is printed on a sticker that’s located on the underside of the lid.

The same batch number label is also affixed to the master pack, as we can see below.

As you can see, these new pellets carry the Crosman/Benjamin product code of BD22. They’re shipping in 400-count tins and are already listed for pre-order on Pyramyd’s website at a selling price of $19.99 per tin.

Oops! Was I supposed to mention any of this yet???

Update. I didn't have the head diameter specification when I wrote the story above. Now I do. It's 5.52mm.

We hope to undertake a comprehensive HAM test report on these new pellets very soon.

This upcoming review are the pellets " gifted" to you from Benji or do you pick a store at random and order the review pellets / random off the shelf anyone could buy ?

I have to say that the cynicism is a little off the scale on this one!

1. As these pellets are not yet available at retail, I could not go to a store and buy them. Duhhh...

2. The tins we have were picked at random from a stack of new production in the factory.

3. Are you suggesting that the "gift" of a tin of pellets (worth maybe $20?) would be enough to influence us to provide a positive review?

4. Hard Air Magazine has tested many pellets over the years, as you can see here. We know what we are doing and what we are looking for. It would very soon be obvious to us if the pellets supplied for test were suspiciously good and we would have some tough questions for the manufacturer. In such a case, the review would not be published.

It's the got to take it with a grain of salt thing

They will be available later this month but we need to get ahead as it takes time to make our comprehensive reviews.

I wonder if they would shoot half decent out of my AA S510 with that head size! Is it bigger than the previous pellets? I had shot the crosman premiers in .177 (7.9gr?) in my TX200, and the .22 (also 14.3gr weight) in my S510 and they were TERRIBLE compared to JSB. I hate to think an expensive gun can only run expensive ammo. I literally expected them to shoot very good out of my 2 new guns. I adjusted speeds from 950 to 750 fps and no better groupings. And the S510 is not overly pellet fussy. It will even shoot light slugs well which it is not designed to do! We patiently wait for the Ham reviews🙏....just no 10yard distances though, completely useless. 😉

Some people are just "snarkey" I for one, am looking forward to your HAM review of these Benjamin Match Grade Pellets in .22 cal. I've got them on pre-order from Pyramyd and I look forward to your review/testing of these pellets to help me judge whether I should keep my order or cancel and run away quickly. Orv.
May as well keep it and get them .. someone has to gunneypig the first ones in stores fresh off the hypetrain.

Only you know from your own personal in hand experience if worthy or not ..

Hateful . . . You are most surely correct. I have on order 2 4 packs of these .22 cal pellets. Should the HAM rating not be stellar, thit order may decrease to as little as 1 can. Orv

Well ya know it pellets ... What maybe golden in this may not be in that ..

Like how I'm told jsb, h&n are all that + and here vs the Walmart cphp my results are marginal . Most time ones no better or worse in any particular gun used at any time or range .. $19 a tin. Unless magically all one hole the 10 ring ..lol

It's not like I'm shooting for the million dollar mr.leggs universe world national championship cup here in my backyard.. lol
