Sonoran .30 BRK Sonoran Rifle Inbound

It stopped raining, in the meantime I filled the Sonoran. I dragged the target stand back to what I estimated was 100yds, turned out to be 104yds. I loaded a mag with AEA 45gr pellets. I guessed at what the holdover would be and fired my first five shot group at 104yds with the .30 Sonoran. Winds were variable at 3-5mph. I think I just scored my best airgun group at 100 plus yards. Sub-MOA from the Sub-MOA barrel, what a concept lol. A .975” five shot group. With practice I hope to tighten it up. I have some JSB Knockouts coming tomorrow to try. I’m bummed that the AEA 45s are out of stock everywhere. It is a big hold over at 104yds. To me it’s impressive, I haven’t been able to shoot 100yd sub-MOA with my Ghost .25. I’ve sighted it in at 50yds, I might change that to 100yds.

I’m so happpy you were able to get a photo of the caliper numbers 🤭

Great shooting!! The JSB/Rangemaster group close to the AEA 45’s

I got another one with the AEA 50.5gr pellets. This was a little harder. Max velocity was around 870fps on max. Wind was a little stronger. Full disclosure: I’m measuring center to center. It s easy to do as the pellets leave a lead bump in the center of each hit. I need to shoot a few paper targets.

The funny part is that I was on the fence between the Sonoran and the Red Panda. I had the Red Panda in the cart waiting for me to hit send. I was in the car and got a phone call from AOA asking me if I was ready to buy the Sonoran. I decided it was meant to be lol.

Love it. I admit I was totally wrong about this rifle and the stock. The only minor thing that I don’t like is the trigger weight. The trigger even though it’s had custom trigger work, is a little heavier than I like and it looks like the stock has to be removed to adjust the second stage. But, that is just my preference. I feel myself having to squeeze a little harder, when I think it should be breaking. My groups although good for me - ok REAL good for me seem to have a left to right drift. I did just shoot a .576” 5 shot group at 104yds. I can’t say enough good things about the accuracy. It didn’t hurt that the winds are way less turbulent than normal here. I’m surprised that they didn’t release this combo on the Ghost platform.

Been enjoying reading your journey the past few days. I've been really happy with mine.

Are you guys saying your regulators are set @ 170bar and you are able to get the AEA 45gr up to 895-900fps?

My reg came set at 186bar (I installed a digital reg gauge) and I have adjusted the hammer spring setting to get the AEA in the 895fps range. My ES/SD is so good I really don't want to touch the reg, but I am curious if I could lower it 10-15bar and still get the speed I'm looking for.

Regarding the AEA 45gr - I have it on good word to expect the shipment mid to late June from the place I have a pre-order in. This is a very popular pellet right now - you might want to get in on a pre-order as this batch will likely sell fast.

If your left to right drift continues check your scope level i just had to do that to my 177 slug shooter 👻

I had to move mine back up to about 178 on the reg gauge. My fill gauge is over by 20 bar. I’m guessing you’ll need 170-180 if you want the power range for 45-55 gr. Well hopefully everyone won’t get fed up of my posts. I’ve got some free time on my hands and have really enjoyed getting back into shooting. I really appreciate the fact that everyone is friendly and willing to share their knowledge and experience.

Let's hope they are working on that soon, im sure its on the Sub-MOA list! Plenty of power in the .177-.25 👻 anyways for slugs! I am tuning my Ghost but my hearts not 100% in it, and life's wild again, weathers been blah....I really don't care for Mrds, bc....they are Mrds, I bought it for slugs. Anyways, congrats on the rifle🥳, she sure seems to be a shooter! As far as your fill gauge accuracy, if in doubt run the bottle down to reg pressure....if your speeds don't drop its definitely your guns bottle gauge that's off (or if speed drops before it should)👍 Personal opinion but stick with .30cal and down, anything above gets crazy with air usage and ammo costs! Real crazy.
