100 yards and beyond…?

I am, very much, and always will be, a weapons guy. I love them all, and have used many different types. I just always worry about everything getting legislated out in an instant. I don't want airguns to get swept up into anything we are not responsible for. The range and the technology is definitely going to happen but we don't have to be advertising it either. This sport, in most states, has the ability to stay quiet, so stay quiet. If you want to shoot tannerite use your firearms. Don't shoot steel if you have a neighbor that can hear it, or has a dog that takes a fit, shoot duraseal targets. Better if you can get them to shoot with you, but that is getting harder too. Sorry Luis, but I think the whole "keep it under a certain range" discussion is kind of pointless, different people are always going to do different things for diferent reasons. The real discussion should be to keep it under everybody's radar. In all things. I don't want to hear your truck or your stereo coming from three miles away, or you revving a Harley when you come home at two in the morning. Basic, and I mean BASIC, courtesy, because it sure isn't common any more. I don't worry about how far, or if, someone can, or should, shoot over a 100y, I worry about shooting period.

Words and thoughts reveal much about oneself.
Yes, they do… @CTAirgunner users lots of negativo words… after all his “thread jacking” he still hasn’t answer the question I put to him over his accusation of me putting down others achievements … and I again I quote him…🙈

————————
““I think telling a bunch of people that shooting sub MOA at 100, 50, 75 or even 25 yards is unrealistic is just putting down someones drive to achieve such results.”
————————

I was asking for opinions from those who see it differently or not is all… Where in my post am I “putting people down”…? 🫡

@Pumacarl, no apologies necessary… Nowhere in my post do I suggest or “worry” that anyone should keep their shooting under a certain range. Different strokes for different folks always applies…🙏 My post was simply in form of a question, not a dictate to the community.

An on looker could very easily look at this underlined statement made by a frequent poster with high post count and say damm, maybe I'd be wasting my time trying.

That's all I meant everyone.

I'll try to use happier words from now on.

Good point, IT IS TOTALLY REALISTIC! I have seen novices do it. NOVICES!!! They took instruction, did what was told and had this supposedly unrealistic thing happen. People actually trying can accomplish just about anything they set their mind to.

I mentioned average Joe, and shooting MOA ‘consistently’… at 50 and 100 yards… Not a cherry picked group here or there. But doing it consistently, day in and day out… Again simply unrealistic for the majority of shooters…Yes, on certain days I am amazed at the accuracy. On other days, not so much…🙈

Hey I'm all about participating in threads, and thats all this was, I didn't know there were jabs being thrown here.

There won't be any hugging lol
So then why jab at @Grunt64 like…/
We also don't need to start discussing railguns, submarines, or deathstars....
🙄

Or, again in reply to @Grunt64… below… See the pattern @pan60? I simply started a post to get insight…

I don't limit my thinking , you don't know me, or how I think. I am going to just agree to disagree with you.
Accusing a fellow member of “limited” thinking… @CTAirgunner, simply chose to derail this thread… Good for him…🙏

I empiracally disagree. Most average Joe's and Jane's make great shooters with just good gear and great instruction. The only limiting factor is how much they want it. Same for everybody here.

For the average Joe, expecting to send 5 or 10 shot, 1 MOA groups at 100 yards, or even 50 yards? Is simply unrealistic… Mucho hype of late in the over 100 yards ranges, but very, very few will achieve those results

I think telling a bunch of people that shooting sub MOA at 100, 50, 75 or even 25 yards is unrealistic is just putting down someones drive to achieve such results.

My original post was very ok and covered a broad spectrum as did the original comment I was replying to, it did not say that @Luis Leon was specifically saying he was disparaging anyones thoughts on wanting to shoot at distance X but that any on looker whos new could easily interpret it that way. So if it was taken personal, thats not on me.

That said, I understand that there are a select few, who through due diligence and many, many rounds downrange. May achieve consistent 5 shot, 1 MOA groups at 100 yards

I touched on this here in my original post as well,

A year and a half ago it was very easy for me to go out and print sub moa groups at 100-115 yards each and every time I went out shooting, with very little groups not being MOA or less.... why? because I sent thousands of pellets down range practicing to do so.

@Grunt64 then made a comment in regards to Danas comment stating that a mere piece of equipment could grant someone incapable the capability to dispatch a life .... a statement that just simply didn't resonate with me, so I replied pretty politely and acceptably in my opinion.... it is ok to disagree with people, if everyone agreed on everything, life would be boring, nobody would challenge anything, and we'd make no advancement.

At this point yes I did ignore @Luis Leon question because looking at the way I have it laid out here I am pretty sure most if not all can see, a broad statement was made and a broad reply was given. No spear head in anyones chest and I wasn't trying to derail the thread as @Luis Leon stated I did in later comments.

after all his “thread jacking”

@CTAirgunner, simply chose to derail this thread… Good for him…🙏

Then there was a very simple exchange of debate between @Grunt64 and I , no haymakers thrown, no yo mommas, sure I made a funny about the deathstar, the thread was heading there with the discussion of Rail Guns and Submarines.... I understood the point @Grunt64 was trying to make , however this is a topic I have thought about well into my sleep, I have a few "conditions" that cause this and those who really know me personally, know that and know that once I am engulfed in something that I find interesting, I travel into the abyss of information and I must figure it out. So the debate continued and I made not a single dig at any one user, in fact I agreed to disagree. Even after I was told that I "limit" my thinking. Quite the contrary, I think and think and think, and also assumed I am some type of person through a bunch of broad statements made in discussion on the forum, isn't that what forums are all about?

you limit your thinking.
Words and thoughts reveal much about oneself.

I agreed to disagree and moved on, then @Luis Leon wanted to derail his own thread and talk about personal interpretation about what was said earlier instead of why do people want to shoot past 100 yards. While specifically stating "I use lots of negativo (?) words" I don't need to explain my response again, I did above.

Other users thought it was a fair response ... thats when @Luis Leon decided to weaponize @Grunt64 as shown below....

Also, I did not accuse anyone of limited thinking, I was accused of it...

Anyways @Luis Leon

If you want to continue to take everything I say in every thread personally, or try to twist others views, just ignore me. I am here to discuss , like I did. Like I told you in the personal message you sent to me, I am not here to play word games, semantics, whatever you want to call it.

I didn't want to talk about it any further and I won't reply to anything else within this thread but it's not in me to be pointed at and spoken about and not reply.

There is no need to worry about any discussion we have on this forum. We are all from different walks of life. I will take some blame in all this; I should of just walked away when it was going south. Since CTAirgunner went through all the trouble to write all this, it must have bothered him, and I apologize to you. Must be the Grunt still lives in me.😂👍.

You and I are good! We had a debate and thats what it was, difference in opinion with no real negative connotation really, maybe some assumptions, but we are all guilty of assuming things at times.

Also yes I did reply to something else in this thread .... but I felt Grunt deserved a reply.

My thoughts are if you are passionate about this hobby “Airguns” regardless of type or discipline, new or old etc., etc. you have my respect regardless, even if I don’t agree with you or care for aspects of your persona.

Airgun enthusiasts make this hobby/passion what it is, good or bad.
