At 100 plus yards, thats a kill.102 yards, so yes I do lob them out there for fun, Definitely not consistent MOA shooting for me at that distance. But sure MOF, minute of fun…

I wouldn’t shot at a living thing at that distance with the Atomic. But for fun? All day long in good conditions. At 100 plus yards, thats a kill.
The bulk of my plinking is from 25 to 64 yards… And? 50 yards is a big deal, many would have us believe it is a gimme shot distance. That said, “hits” are delicious whatever the ranges…50 is a big deal for me, so you are crushing it.
For the life of me, I can’t comprehend the thrill of lobbing 15 cents (plus) chunks of lead two, three, four hundred or more yards hopeing to hit a 5 gallon drum once out of 5 or more shots. Well, I guess as they say…..every dirt dobber has his mud!I love my airguns for the practical to me, sub 60 yards pesting/plinking opportunities I may encounter… That said, I understand that there are a select few, who through due diligence and many, many rounds downrange. May achieve consistent 5 shot, 1 MOA groups at 100 yards, whether with pellets or slugs… And have kills on film to prove it… That said it is not the norm for the majority. And it is incongruous to why the majority come to airguns in the first place. I understand that many willl justifiably push the limits of what airguns, particularly PCPs can do. But to what end? To duplicate the ballistics of a .22 rimfire or .22 rimfire magnum? Heck, if you have the space to unleash that much power? Why not simply use a powder burner? For me? Personally, where airguns shine is in their traditional roles as short range target, plinking, pesting, hunting guns… For the average Joe, expecting to send 5 or 10 shot, 1 MOA groups at 100 yards, or even 50 yards? Is simply unrealistic… Mucho hype of late in the over 100 yards ranges, but very, very few will achieve those results… Within their practical parameters, airgun simply shine… So why try and turn them into powder burner equivalents? The purpose of this post is to sincerely query those who see it otherwise. And to maybe temper the expectations of those new to the game/hobby…![]()
With the right pcp and scope it's not impossible, I have hit a 12x12 target at 400 yards 3 out of 4 shots and this summer, if I can find a spot, 500 yards hitting a 10-inch gong 5 times in a row. The hardest part will be finding 500 plus yards to do so. It's like anything you have to practice, even the 50-yard shots. For the life of me, I can’t comprehend the thrill of lobbing 15 cents (plus) chunks of lead two, three, four hundred or more yards hopeing to hit a 5 gallon drum once out of 5 or more shots. Well, I guess as they say…..every dirt dobber has his mud!
You do that so making a shot at 30 yards is easy.
Now I know why I can’t hit anything at close rangeYou do that so making a shot at 30 yards is easy.
This human is and I'm nothing special.Sure the LRF capabilities are quick and easy to use now but that doesn't mean the human behind the scope is still capable of making the shot on a "critter", there are many other variables besides just hold-overs.
We all play with our airguns as we will, no harm or slight was intended by my original post. Though I can send out to 102 yards from my deck. My main satisfaction is plinking from 25 to 64 yards. I have stations at 15, 25, 40, 50, 60, 64 and 102 yards. Do plenty of missing but thats just me, for the most part hits are the norm. I do it for the fun of it and don’t take this hobby too seriouslyI totally agree with you on this Luis. There’s a tool for every job. I’m not wounding animals trying to shoot them at 150 yards heck I don’t even shoot Airguns passed 40. 17 hmr? Yes all day at 100 plus.
