EVOL Mini leak

have you aired it up and tried to find the leak?
not sure what I am seeing is that water for oil or somthing?
did it come from the MINI?
from what I has seen most leaks in the EVOLS have been the foster fitting

Not sure. I do add ballitol on the metal surface. But that doesn’t smell like ballistol. It’s looks like water to me? Maybe some type of oil

well there should be any liquid in the gun so it would not be normal IMHV.
do you have a good source for air?
make sure your not putting water in the gun regardless of what the leak is.
I would air it up then get a small hand sprayer and add a little dawn dish soap it doesnt take much and local the leak.
I would strong state check the foster first that is probably were its at it is a very easy fix I can walk you through or one of the other guys on here.

I have no idea what the leak is, if you're lucky it's silicone oil from someone putting too much on the fill nipple. A while back, a couple of us, with AAA guns, had fill nipple problems. That's the easiest thing to check, so I'd start there. Take it off now that you are aired down and check the oring on it.

@RicL is this a used gun you bought or been your since new?
also like Pumacarl you could access the foster fitting now I dod not budget that because if you dont have rings not much you can do and your down till you get em. if you air it up and see thatsthe issue you can keep it aired up and use it till you get the o-ring and I would suggest a handful of them.

When you are filling it, the gun is above the compressor right?

If you were talking about the little cotton filter, it can become saturated if you’re laying it level with the compressor and it will eventually start spitting out moisture, ask me how I know 😉.
Filling it level to the pump. Will stop that.

Used. I only filled it a few times. I think I do have some o-rings. Will check and inspect it tmw night.

you will find the o-ring chart here
if you have em do like @Pumacarl says just take a peak theres a very good chance that is the issue.
yea if you got it used then theres no telling what that is leaking but probably just what @Pumacarl stated.

That mess is from the o-ring on the regulator giving out and the subsequent air draining, pushing grease and or moisture out through the threads on the cylinder. To fix it is fairly easy. Remove the barrel from the reciever then remove cylinder from the reciever. Then remove the regulator from the cylinder and clean and re-ring it.

Inspect the regulator o-ring groove for a sharp edge where the o-ring likely extruded out from over time. That sharp edge needs rounded and polished with fine grit wet/dry sandpaper.1000010594.webp

Great easy fix man!

Good info for fixing the reg o-ring issue. It's happened to me before as well.

If you look at the AAA o-ring guide (Manuals – American Air Arms) some of the o-rings were upped from 70D to 90D to help with the issue.

BTW - you will need the barrel removal tool to remove the barrel before trying to unscrew the air tube. I know there's no air right now, but the bleed screw is under the lower receiver assembly once removed - it's a tight spot but a 10mm socket works to get in there for me.

Guessing that huge gap between the blue metal and oring is the problem? Also is the regulator supposed to look ‘worn’?

That gap can cause some extrusion of the o-ring, but it isn't the problem. I think that extra space is on all the regs. My newer HPS reg has a plastic insert to fill the extra space.

No - the reg should not look worn. It would appear that previous owner had disassembled the regulator.

Also - on the last picture. Lower left corner looks like a piece of o-ring? Also all that gross grey grease?

IMO - gun needs a good go through and replace all o-rings. If you follow my link for the o-rings you'll see that the o-ring on the regulator body has been upped from 70D to 90D - this would help with the extrusion.

Thanks. The seller told me he never touched the tune it came with so it would be odd that the reg was taken apart, but now that I look at it, yeah that would explain the scuffs. From memory he bought it new, but I’ll have to check that.

Oh yeah, that looks like a piece of oring to me too. Found it in the middle of the cylinder.

The grey goo? No idea

just checked. Looks like I have 90D
