New FX DRS Tactical In Stock At Pyramyd

The FX DRS Tactical is the latest model in the Swedish company’s “HPA tank around barrel” line. It’s now available and in stock at Pyramyd.

The DRS Tactical is perhaps the ultimate expression of the DRS family’s “firearms look”. At first glance, it’s almost indistinguishable from an AR-15 firearm, albeit one with a very heavy barrel.

A you would expect, this is another example in the current trend towards modular, customizable PCP air rifles. Of course, there’s a choice of calibers: .177, .22 and .25 cal.

There’s also a choice of barrel lengths; 500 mm (Compact), 600 mm (Standard) and 700 mm (Sniper).

Here’s how caliber and barrel length change the claimed maximum Muzzle Energy:

Caliber500 mm Barrel600 mm Barrel700 mm Barrel
.17736 Ft/Lbs40 Ft/Lbs42 Ft/Lbs
.2252 Ft/Lbs65 Ft/Lbs79 Ft/Lbs
.2566 Ft/Lbs78 Ft/Lbs85 Ft/Lbs

That’s the 700mm version in the photograph below.

Due to the HPA tank around barrel design, there’s also a corresponding change in the High Pressure Air capacity with barrel length. So the Compact holds 210 cc, the Standard 260 cc and the Sniper 310 cc.

Maximum shot count specs are “up to” 180 in .177 cal, 122 in .22 cal and 70 in .25 caliber. Presumably these would be available with the longest barrel configurations.

Naturally, the FX DRS Tactical is able to accept a wide variety of AR-compatible accessories: notably pistol grips and buttstocks. Scopes and sighting accessories are installed using the super-long Picatinny rail, while there’s a full-length ARCA rail in the underside.

At Street Prices of less than $1,150 – depending on configuration – it has to be said that the price is attractive.

HAM will bring you more information, plus our own photographs, from the IWA OutdoorClassics show in Germany next week.

After having an AR assigned to me for best part of six years , I never wanted one of my own. But I could warm up to
this w/the 600mm tube, no brass to chase or hanging on a bag to catch it. Probably a much better trigger w/o having
to go w/ an aftermarket one. AND I won't have to buy a progressive reloader to feed it !!

Maybe you can shed some light concerning FX’s supply chain. According to Utah Airguns, they are the sloe importer for FX and they say they want have the DRS until next week. I know of at least one other dealer besides PA who has the DRS in stock. Is FX making an end run around UA? Is this why Airguns of Arizona and FX parted ways a few years ago?
Just curious.
