The Diana Bandit Tactical Carbine is another new PCP model from the German company. This one is a development of the popular Bandit pistol family and is a new introduction into the burgeoning, carbine-length PCP airgun market. It’s available in .177 and .22 calibers.
This new Bandit Carbine differentiates itself in a number of way from other products in the market.
First – and most obviously – it is supplied complete with red dot sight. Adjustable for windage, elevation and brightness, such an optic is usually an additional-cost option for a PCP.
It’s a very appropriate sighting solution for the type of shooting the gun is anticipated to do: plinking, informal target shooting, soda cans and maybe the occasional, close-range hunting expedition for those pesky squirrels…
Another unusual feature is that the Bandit Tactical is bundled with a soft gun case. As a gun case is an essential accessory, that’s two inclusions that are normally extra-cost items with competitive products. (You’ll find that an included soft case is supplied with other Diana “Action Line” airgun, too.)
While we’re highlighting unusual features, the low – 2,900 PSI – fill pressure of the Bandit Tactical will be another attraction to many owners. In conjunction with the small capacity (40 cc) HPA tank, it makes the gun easy to fill with a hand pump. Yes the shot count is not large, but many owners will happily trade that for the easy filling.
More conventional features are the internal regulator, bolt action and magazine pellet feed. (It’s 9 rounds in .177 and 7 shots in .22 caliber). There’s also a supplied single shot tray for those who prefer that feeding method.
Given the “Tactical” designation, we need to say something about the proliferation of M-LOK slots built-in to the handguard. There’s definitely plenty of them and they allow the easy fitment of additional accessories, including lights, bipods and grips.
The Bandit Tactical Carbine has another benefit from its compact dimensions. It’s just 28.7 Inches in overall length with a 9.5-Inch barrel. Combined with the collapsible stock and the 3 Lbs 5 Oz, this means that it’s suitable for almost all family members to try their hand at plinking.
The Carbine is supplied with an included silencer. However (again fairly unusually for this type of airgun), it can be unscrewed and replaced with an aftermarket device, if required using the M10 x 1 screw thread on the muzzle.
We’ve left discussion of power until last for a reason. As you would expect, the Diana Bandit Tactical Carbine is not a high-powered airgun. The specs for Muzzle Energy are a maximum of 9.5 Ft/Lbs in .177 caliber and 12 Ft/Lbs in .22 cal.
But it’s important to remember that – for many owners – low power is actually a benefit. This is a backyard-friendly airgun with a low noise level, relatively short range and less need for substantial backstops than more powerful airguns. More power isn’t always better!
