Barra 270z PCP Air Rifle Is Now Available For Pre-Order

Yes, it’s been a long time coming, but the Barra 270z PCP air rifle is now available for pre-order. The scheduled availability date is in the first half of October, 2026.

Pre-orders can be placed at both Barra Airguns, or at Pyramyd AIR. The MSRP is $699.99.

The 270z is a development of the HAM Gold Award-winning Barra 250z. It continues and refines the manufacturer’s patented “HPA tube around barrel” configuration, combined with a chunky bolt action.

The 270z – like the Barra 250z air rifle – has design elements that are covered by a US Patent. The patent number – 10161703-B2 – is marked on the underside of the air tube.

The inventor is named as Mr Xu from Shaoxing Lingfeng Air Gun Manufacturing Co. Ltd in China. That’s Snowpeak Airguns to you and me.

The parent was filed in 2017 and issued on 25 December 2018, so it’s not a new concept. However – inevitably – the concept has been imitated by at least one other airgun manufacturer. But this is the original!

The Barra 270z PCP air rifle is to be available with a hardwood stock in .22 and .25 calibers. Barra says that The 270z builds directly on the 250z platform with several meaningful upgrades.

These include a doubled plenum volume from 15 cc to 30 cc, an ambidextrous and re-positionable bolt handle, a checkered beech wood stock with adjustable comb, and sling attachment points.

That wood stock definitely makes the 270z an attractive-looking air rifle!

Headline specifications include a 322cc HPA capacity and 3,625 PSI maximum fill pressure. Both of these are the same as for the 250z. There’s also a two-stage adjustable trigger and rotary magazine ammo feed.

The action is regulated, of course. The regulator is externally-adjustable.

Maximum Muzzle Energy specs are 50 Ft/Lbs in .22 and 60 Ft/Lbs in .25 cal. So this is a little more powerful than the previous model. Our HAM-tested 250z peaked at 45.5 Ft/Lbs in .22 caliber.

Overall length is listed as 47.4 Inches and the weight 7 Lbs 9 Oz. So it’s a little longer and somewhat heavier than the 250z – as you would expect for a real beech stock with adjustable cheekpiece.

The Barra 270z PCP air rifle is supplied with two rotary magazines, a fill probe, owner’s manual, and spare O-rings

HAM plans to bring you our industry-leading, comprehensive review of the Barra 270z in the near future. Stay tuned!

I shouldn't have to tear a brand new gun apart on day one. Put some logic in that. Do you tear your phone apart on day 1? Or when you have to get it fix?
You should not have too, but you do. Even the most expensive airguns made, I tear down the second I open the box. I have almost always found a problem and fixed it before anything bad happens. I saved the time of shipping and I learned the gun up front. Do what you like, or don't, but these guns, all of them, need servicing eventually. Usually the servicing is dead simple and takes almost no time to do. It is a part of it. That, or shipping off your gun for a while every now and then.

No you shouldn’t, for any reason that you have. @800tyHunter you didn’t pay for a “parts gun”, I get that 👍.

Myself and some others may choose to work on a brand new out of the box Airgun, I don’t see any issue with that.

If you want some logic, then look into the realities of shipping. The odds of damage increase with every hub or distribution point (handling) my Airgun passes through. Now let’s not forget about loss/theft.

Just for the record, I share my personal experience as in “right, wrong and what I learn” with working on my Airguns with this community.

However, I certainly do not encourage or recommend to anyone that does not feel comfortable with disassembling, repairing and reassembling their Airgun and related components correctly to do so. Regardless of their personal reasons.

My advice is “when in doubt, send it out” (for factory authorized repair or refund) 😉.

@Pumacarl from my personal perspective I agree with you but imo not everyone can or should work on an Airgun.

Well said. Very well said.

I agree, tearing a pcp apart right out of the box shouldn't have to be done. I do, since I do like cleaning, slugging, and polishing up barrels. But that is just me.

Let's me snug up loose screws, if any, slap some reg butter on a set of fresh o rings, and know "okay, I did x, y, and z. Didn't touch a, or b. Leaks will be there if I got em."

Helps me personally trouble shoot air leaks preemptively. And the air over the barrel style pcp's have a healthy amount of orings. (Ask me why I bought 4 bring kits for my 250z's!😅)

Hopefully things get resolved for ya quickly on the 270z front. I know im going to pick up a thimble and bolt to be able to convert between .22 and .25 depending on usage myself personally.
