HAM Sharp Shooter
I purchased a used Paradigm .30 and there is a tight spot in the barrel starting about 11-12” from the breech. Is this normal and perhaps where the choke is? After it gets by that then the barrel opens up again.

Used guns are not always the top shelf units that were produced in the factory. It doesn't sound like something that Tom would let go out of his shop. How accurate is the barrel? Is it MOA or better? Have you used a bore scope to look in the barrel at that particular spot? Tight spots can be from a number of things like being hard bent for whatever reason and then straitened, a building up of lead, a rough spot from manufacturing, rust/scale buildup, etc . All these can act as felt drag. A tight spot is easier to deal with (fix) than a bulge, that's for sure.I purchased a used Paradigm .30 and there is a tight spot in the barrel starting about 11-12” from the breech. Good move of cleaning the bore first. I bought one with a bulge and crack once, but it still shoots moa groups if I do my part. It's hard to say without looking or shooting what the issue is. It may need polished out or a bit more lapping in that one spot. I agree with Woogie_man, it needs to be checked out for accuracy by being shot at distance with a few ammo selections.I’ve not shot it yet as I just got it and wanted to clean the pipe before shooting it. The bore was whistle clean but I just noticed an odd tight spot about 11” from the breech and wondered if this is the way all of the Paradigm barrels are made? I’ve not bore scoped it yet.
I'd bet it is a shooter.Bought it from Michael over on AGN and it even has the AGN logo engraved on the action. He said it shot 44s really well. I’m going to shoot it before I get to worked up about it. I just thought it was odd to have a tight spot in the middle of the barrel.
