For the best results you need to place your target on a well lit black background. There needs to be an inch or more black border around your target. Make sure it is flat. There can’t be any shadows on the target. It all makes sense when you consider that it’s using contrast and looking for black. Shadows are black. The target needs to be flat as possible and you need to try and hold your phone as level as possible, you want your camera parallel with the target.
Solo1 just beat me to it, I was going to post that next. The “Compete” button is for when you’re using their camera system. I actually have a video studio and could setup shadowless high intensity lighting, but I’m trying to do it the same way everyone else will do it. Here’s my high tech set up for scoring. A black cabinet top with a table lamp. Yes, I get yelled at when I rearrange it.
