Why do we keep spending more?

That new Benjamin has got me excited! I'll have to clear out a few to make way for the new.

Im going backwards myself with my airguns I've noticed lol. Nothing new interests me much minus the blackwolf, but yeah waaaaay outta my price range. My TX and S510 are both old platforms and I hope to get an AF Condor & HW50 next year.....lol both mighty old guns. The Ghost is the odd one of the bunch as it was released in 2022.
Certain gear or mods can make an ok airgun into something really special....definitely makes the cost worth it imo.

To some it’s worth it and others not so much. I definitely am in the not so much. A lot of this is crazy. Just look at daystate. I have 2 and love them but who is spending 150 dollars on a rubber butt pad ? 300 dollars on a mono pod butt stock that is an utter PIA to adjust up and down just right? To me it’s nuts. Consumers as a large group fascinate me with what we will buy, how much we pay and then the big kicker how forgiving we are. Sig Sauer should never sell another handgun…ever. They remain hugely popular and some actually defend the p320…lol. FX sells the impact with an inherent design risk causing low speed first shots and poi shifts and people flock to that model . Puzzling.

I spend to much mostly on stuff that doesnt improve the gun such as compressor tanks bipods bags of all kind tools the list goes on but thats part of what I enjoy so I am god with it!

Why do spend as much or more for upgrades than the gun?
Case in point.
I paid under $450 for my Zelos new.
But have bought two types of moderators, bipod, bottle adapter, extra filter for the pump.
Then of course a different scope mount, even though I already had one that would work.
Now I'll be ordering another set if rings, a 500cc bottle, a bottle wrap with the rail. Lots more different pellets to try, even though I already have plenty that shoot Awesome.
Plus I bought a Crosman 2240 and Marauder grip frame and a few other assorted items.
And I'm already looking at maybe another rifle.
You all did this to me!
Where does all it end?

I spent close to cost of my Texan not including the night vision scope to fit the need yet, my AEA 357 big bore is pretty much stock. I guess it's a way to make it yours.

Lol yup im getting the adapter made so I can get that $25 magpul buttpad installed on my ....that adapter is definitely a ton of coin. But its convenience too you are paying for....buy it, install it, done. I dont love the chunky design so I'm modding it a bit and having it made a bit smaller with less of an increased length of pull for me. I've been without my ghost for 3 weeks now...shoulda did this in the off season!

I took an Airforce TalonSS .22 I paid $100 for and proceeded to discover all the really interesting upgrades available for the Airforce Utility Platform. Around $600 later I had increased the value of that $100 TalonSS to at least $350.

Unfortunately I track along with Hylander, I think you are born that way. I have shown those tendencies with every sport I have been involved in from tennis to airguns. If it has a equipment that is essential to playing the sport I will find a way to spend money on it. I am thinking about taking up Bridge or Scrabble and even then I would try to find a way to add something to it that cost me money.

Thank you @Hylander for this thread , it has inspired a name.

I have been working most of the day with my Wolverine .177, I’ve disassembled it multiple times, adjusting, tuning, and tweaking. I’ve treated it with care as I try to make it shoot as good as I can.

I can definitely see more money being spent, so with that in mind, I have decided to give it the name “Honeypot”.

You enter tournaments. That's where you spend money. A group I'm a member of has a Euchre tournament in February. It's a big money raiser for us.

I am literally typing up the list of guns I am willing to sell. Probably won't get a lot of takers due to either age or a couple less than desirable. Problem is I worked on the less desirable to the point of them being very reliable. But their reputation proceeds them and they might sell at a steep discount.

That's a problem in this world. Guns aging out. The more common guns do not retain any kind of value after a relatively short period of time.

But got to try to thin the collection. Some guns sitting for months is not optimal .

As much as I have fallen in love with my PCPs this is exact reason I refuse to part with my powder burners.
