What's your airgun passion???

"What's your airgun passion"? What I mean is, what is your #1 reason you choose to shoot airguns?

There are so many different avenues an airgun enthusiast might choose to follow. I think a lot of us airgunners believe that most other airgun shooters all follow the same path with their airgunning interest. I am sure that is not true. For instance, I automatically think that all air rifle shooters are hunters but in reality, many, maybe even a majority do not hunt with their airguns at all.

For me, everything I do with regard to my airguns/air rifles is directed toward just one goal. That goal being to hunt small game, or vermin with my air rifles. While I shoot 99% of my air rifle projectiles on paper at my home range..., I do it entirely for the chance to drop a pellet into the vitals of some critter for a few months each year!

What is your airgun use passion that keeps you in the hobby?

Hunting and being able to take the grandchildren and making it a quieter less recoiling experience for them is a top priority. Target shooting with them for the same reasons. Helping the feedlot owners with their pest management without the great risk of harming the animals and no loud firearm report to upset livestock.

The fact that I can go shoot in my back yard any time I want, as long as I want to. Without worrying about what the neighbors think. Even big bores. The closest range is about an hour's drive each way and it is unsupervised so you have to ask everyone to stop shooting so you can take care of a target. With one person shooting a 338 on one side of you and another with an AK47 on the other side of you that seem to have an endless amount of ammo. You may have to wait just to get a spot on the firing line. No thanks.

Had at least one since I was about 7-8 so close to 55 years about. As kids to find a place Grandparents approved we could sit almost anywhere, 3 acre lots surrounding 3 acre lots. We sometimes filled plastic bottles with water and hung them from a tree. Hand a soda can and cut it in half. Still do that.
Spending time with others, taking turns shooting. Talk smack sometimes. Still do all of that. Truth is after I learned Benchrest I lost interest after a few years. It's just boring to me. But I'll sit around and off hand shoot with anyone for hours, open site or scoped. I look for guns weight before a purchase.
It's been a great life long hobby. Even back then you had a few pellets, or BBs choices to shoot. And someone always had a newer gun than me. Didn't matter then and doesn't now.
It's just fun.

I have loved shooting ever since I was a kid. My favorite thing to do at an arcade was the “hunting” machine where yo shot at the targets in the enclosure and the fell down. The passion for shooting carried through into my service in the USCG and I qualified at least Sharp Shooter (I have an aversion to being called Expert)each time several times. I don’t hunt but to be able to plink away on my own property in my own time is priceless. To see my targets fall always gives a thrill. I still get amazed at the way you can place a shot with a .177 or .22 pellet with a break barrel many yards away…sometimes consistently Anyway…Air Guns Rule. Stay well all

Started as a simple, quiet way to work on marksmanship, and eventual goal of hunting. That is still a goal/purpose, since I can shoot quietly, cheaply, and at home. But I have also met some wonderful folk that I can jaw with. Plus I discovered the pure joy of a pump gun and tin of pellets. You can sit and chat while idly passing the time away with shooting, and helping advocate and share the joy of airguns has become a passion.

It's my quiet space mostly, where I can focus on something not work or family related. Learning the aspects of tuning and some modifications. Shot a couple raccoons this year that were climbing and trying to get into the house. And when they have time shooting with a few friends and some kids around me. I can shoot in my back yard most days and can run to the peace and quiet of a lil piece of land when I want to decompress. Its really nice to be able to message with all you folks too, since people need to mind there manners here. Everyone seems to know it's a privilege to be here and that makes a difference.

For me, air gunning started at the age of 4 or maybe 5, for one reason, getting prepared for the hunt. Now at 60, its still the same, even though for.some reason in the last couple of years, since joining this group, I have developed a nagging desire to just sit, and punch paper for some reason.

At the age of 10 (now 39) I was gifted a crosman break barrel & some pellets. My 3 brothers also recieved similar gifts in time. Youngest now shoot firearms mostly the other 2 seldomly shoot at all. All my airguns from my hefty low powered TX200 to my beefy Brk Ghost are used for pesting, that is the ultimate proving ground and reason i buy them.
However I also punch alot of paper now, something I never did other than sight-ins when I was 10, addicting....I'm blaming Ham

At home i love that I can shoot quietly & safely while the neighbors are having a party next door, maybe 1 pellet to dump a pest, or 50 into a pellet trap.
At my parents I can grab my Ghost and shoot against some rimfires and do just fine with some good ol 25.39 mrds to 100Y. Most of the plinking happens here.
Reaching way out and dropping pests puts a HUGE smile on my face with pcps just as much as a 25Y smack on a fly with a spring gun.
The last airgun i desire will stray from the pack (I own .177 and .22 exclusively) and it may be a .30 or .357 pcp. Just to show up my brothers/friends firearms in the power department.
I am 1 minute away from a firearm range...zero interest in ever shooting there.
