What'cha doing air gun related today?

Shot the TalonSS .177 this morning and it did well with JSB13gr, 10gr KO MK3s, and great with JSB 10 grain pellets. Have to seat the 10gr ammo in about 1/16 inch for it to do well. Just pushed it in with another pellet.

This evening I turned my Barra 1866 .177 Gen1 multi pump, I got at a yard sale, into a Gen2 with the pellet loading ramp and scope rail. Barra has a little video on UTube on how to do it. The main thing to watch out for is the BB loading door failing off, the cocking mechanism being engaged properly and the spring for the hammer safety being installed the right way. This is a nice little gun. Wish I could get one in .20.

Shot the avenge x trying to tune it. Aea .22 25.3 gr pellet around 895 with ok results. Adjusted the scope and then I shot 30 rounds in my back yard. Been a while since I shot, it was nice. On-line people have said they shoot well on the avenge x around 920 so I'll bump it up and try again. The regulator always creeps from 2000 to 24-2500 as it sits over night. I just do a few dry shots before I load a mag. Looking at a westhunter hd gen 2 8-32x56 for a budget long range scope. May bite the bullet, reviews seem descent and for the price it can't be beat.

I would work my way up on speed. Forget about FPS and look at groups. Each rifle is different so I start with the hammer all the way out then start going in on 3-5 round groups until I either get it where it groups great or I run out of speed.

That Westhunter looks good for $200.

Forgot to admit my airgunning habit yesterday!

After yardwork, finally got some time and put my UUQ 3-9x40 AOEG scope on the Winchester 1873 and got it rough sighted for 25 yards. Plan was 5 pumps, but it was shooting high at 3, and seemed to be consistent, so I sighted for 3 pumps instead. Started in on pellet testing, but ran out of time before I had to go to other commitments, so I only got to test US Crosman family pellets (Benjamin disco, cphp, premier domed).

None seem to have promise, but many more to go. I did try a couple of shots with cphp at 5 pumps. They hit on opposite sides of my 3 inch center plate of 5-in-1, so I stuck with 3 pumps.

Yesterday no wind, today the hurricane brought all of the wind. Tomorrow, the promise is worse wind. One day I'll get back to testing to find my magic pellet.

Unpacked my pellet order from Pyramyd Air. Only to find the FX Halo slugs all over the inside of the shipping box. FX packages them in a tray. Not a tin container. Sent PA an email. Hopefully they aren't damaged. Wont know until I can find time to test them in my Tipan Slash. I'm still working. Hope everyone's. Sunday is quiet

At my fathers house today doing yard work and watching some football, I had time to trim a heavy hammer spring and test for the zelos. Found a good length, shot h&n 42 gr at 990 fps area so it seems ready for a shooting session. I have some other springs I'll try to make a lighter spring as well. I ordered some h&n 46 gr to try as well since they are cheap this weekend. Cleaned the avenge x .22 barrel. I'll shoot it 25 yards at home then I have some time Saturday to shoot past 25 yards so I'll test and more maybe. Not enough time in the day for everything! Have a great Sunday everyone!

I experimented with adding weight to the hammer in my G3 Mrod on Saturday and didn't get any results worth keeping. Giving that gun a break, I shot most of my other pcp's today as it turned out to be a nice day. The FX is still shooting the same, which is always nice, and all the others, (AAA, 250Z, G2 mrod, TalonP, MA2, Gauntlet, P15) were just as I left them too. Awesome. The thing that I have to work on going forward is just getting better optics, the guns are fine.

I need a bell for the range!

I got out with 5 of my air guns. Checked the new 9gr .22 pellets and they are flying at 1089fps. To fast for more than 10 yards worth of accuracy.

Oh and the Falcon X is crazy! I think I hit the lottery with that one. Shot 1 sub .5 group at 80 yards today. My personal best with it. They start deliveries this week so I am excited to hear how the production ones shoot. It is shooting JSB 18.1gr 930fps and getting over 120 shots on reg. Could be more I just refill after that many.

If I remember correctly, it's advertised as 160 shots on reg.

Going to give some slugs a try for the first time and see how they do.
A lot of people still trash talk slugs every chance they get, and I used to be one of them, but if you find one that works, it changes everything.

Whether or not that's good for airgunning, probably not, but the cat's out of the bag now anyway.

The pursuit has paid off to me. It is another level of fun, and yes -responsibility.

Expect a large investment for that endeavour! Unless you get lucky and hit on a slug that works right off the bat..., you'll wind up with a large investment in partially used slug containers!

That's why I only bought 1 each. Halo and JSB. I do see there is not much love for slugs here. 🤣
