I have made the move to plastic picks. I don't even trust the brass ones any more. Of course sometimes I need to use a smaler diameter brass pick, but before I do, I take a break and calm myself down so that I don't do something stupid in a moment of frustration. Forgetting to do 'that' is really frustrating, lol!Pulled the regulator out of my impact and rebuilt it hopping to stop the slight leak out of the vent hole. NO Joy!!!I'm thinking I must still have a hair or something causing air to get past the Oring in the regulator bore. Either that or I scratched the Oring groove when I replaced it.
I used a brass and plastic pick at first but couldn't get the rock hard Oring out. I finally tried a hooked dental pick and it came right out. I've checked in the reg bore with a bore scope and didn't see any scratches in the Oring groove but that doesn't mean there isn't any. I'm leaning towards there being a stubborn hair in there. I have 7 dogs so there's no lack of hair.I have made the move to plastic picks. I don't even trust the brass ones any more. I use one of these out in my shop, but I was thinking about buying another one for my workbench. I have dogs too, and had that issue with hair getting caught in the O-rings.I used a brass and plastic pick at first but couldn't get the rock hard Oring out.
