What'cha doing air gun related today?

How about my other 18 guns with 1/2-20 and M18 moderators?
Yes. 🤷 The variable adapters fit over a wide range of things, including moderators. Or you can use threaded adapters in place of the moderator. I almost exclusively use the variable. From my red ryders through my Avenger 25 cal. It does not work with my bb pistols or my Crosman Diamondback break barrel, but covers enough for me to have been satisfied.

What you are telling me is 11 Chrony are insufficient and I need the full dozen

Breaking in the reg of my dream Notos and seeing how many shots per fill. I will have to resume tomorrow 😂
About 6 didn’t register.

I also replaced a few o rings on my PP750 and hope it passes the 24 hour pressure check.

I moved the stock from my PP750 to my dream Notos, so I put an A2 stock I have on the PP750 today. I have the latest leak fixed and I want to plink with it and the Notos this weekend. Between the A2 stock and a chopped up Magpul grip, it’s looking very trashy haha. But it allows me to shoot it.
Never ending projects is how i keep my hobby rolling. I’ll take a picture tomorrow.

Quick report guys… I got my .30 cal today. There is definitely some regulator break-in needed. Plenum is creeping from 2100-2200fps. Not a big deal so far. If it doesn’t settle after a bit I’ll break it down and relube it with Reg Butter. With the transfer port on max it’s shooting the fx 50.2gr pellets at 899-905fps. The transfer port adjuster does make a huge difference. Turning it down half way dropped the fps by 100.
I’m really impressed so far. It is heavy but it shoulders really well. Lots and lots of power. I haven’t touched a dang thing and it’s making 90fpe. Considering the website says 102fpe for “max power” I think it’s safe to say they are under promising.

Man I've got to get me one of these! Looking forward to more posts about this bad boy in the meantime. Enjoy.

The new girl wouldn’t stop talking about how it was “time to send them to their next reincarnation.”Lol so I got up and took her to whack a jackrabbit. My own karma must be temporary boosted because this was my first shot at a critter. Been awhile since I used pellets and never a .30 cal… the whack isn’t as loud but dude took exactly 0 steps. Didn’t even see any twitching.

My 45gr Franco slugs came in yesterday for the Karma. I got her tuned to shoot them at 960fpe. lol got another few jacks this morning… I won’t post the other side of this fella but yeah so much for “no pass through.” 90fpe+ out here just chopping them up haha.

Why did I get a .30 cal?!?!? I wanted a truck gun and what I have is a truck cannon haha. All jokes aside once the 250z has her plenum/ final tune I’ll be deep diving into the Karma. Shes probably gonna be my coyote gun before too long. Just need to play around with some big fat boattails to see what I like best…The power is there. Reg is at 2400(ish), hammer spring has only been touched a little bit and still getting around 35-40 a fill.

Stepping up in caliber means no pass throughs...lol🧐🤔....a myth, I too believed until I watched the Utah Air guys slamming rodents @ 100+ Yards away with .22, .25, .and .30 slugs, and with the slow-mo, you'd always see the dirt cloud behind the animal as it crumbled regardless of what they were using. BUT...it does make them more dead more quickly if shot placement isn't perfect. Are Jacks good eating usually? Genuinely curious, I have eaten the odd rabbit i have taken (cottontails mainly) as they feasted unknowingly on my fruit shrubs, sometimes delicious....other times questionable.

Oh no it wasn’t because of caliber. It’s just a preference I have, which is why I tend to shoot slugs a little lighter but real fast. With the barra I have found a really good balance where I can make sure every bit of FPE is left in the target. But that’s at 65-70fpe.

The EQ is doing 92fpe and she’s barely cracked her knuckles. 2500psi on the reg and hammer spring maybe 10% in from flush. I’m gonna push it a little more here soon. Might skip 50s and go straight to 55gr and 60gr. The box says max of 102fpe. I’m thinking 120 should be pretty easy. I’m tempted ram a 78gr boattail and “this one goes to 11” the thing but that would just be to flex.

Truth is the more I shoot these things the more I think power is just a cover for lazy shooting sometimes. Or maybe to cover less than optimal ammo choices. My interest in fpe is mostly just to see what I can deliver at 150y+… I’m no sniper but I really hate to miss so I tend to just wait until it feels “perfect.” Yes I miss out on shots from taking too long but I mostly get to enjoy my favorite part of the shooting which is the tremendous whack and seeing my target go lights out asap… my point being that I’m looking for a slug I can shoot at 940-960. But I will experiment with some heavier stuff as low as 890fps to see what’s up. Below 890fps and I tend to see more “ice picking.” But since this is eventually gonna be my coyote gun that’s a dealbreaker for me. All of my pants already have cactus thorns in them. I don’t need anymore lol just dug a few out of my knee the other day.

You'd think a slow moving slug would penetrate less right? But, here's 2 NSA slugs I shot last weekend into water jugs. One shot on Max from my Ghost over 1000fps, other on Max from the S510, probably around 850ish. The slow-moving, non expanded slug went 1 or 2 four Liter jugs farther than the fast moving expanded one. Cool stuff...some neat rifling marks, both L.W. barrels. And....for some reason my pics i post on Ham show up 90deg sideways or upside down now🤨

Actually it’s the opposite. From what I can tell the big slower moving slugs penetrate well but don’t expand very well. I strongly prefer not passing through if it means my slug is dumping its energy really well.

WAY too long since I had a material science course but there is a way to calculate the expansion rates for materials based upon contact surface area, mass and energy (force). That should get you close to an optimal FPE for a given pellet or slug.

A materials science course problem was to calculate the force a rivet gun needed to use to be capable of to setting an iron rivet in a beam.

Yeah the problem is that you need to have solid numbers for the target material…because mass/force and surface area applied to a steel plate won’t be the same when applied to a 25lbs coyote.
