Eric over at Nightplinkers sent me these slug holders to test out. He sized them to slug of my choice as well. I’ll be putting them through their paces but I’ll keep y’all posted on what I think. He’s got some glow-in-the dark versions coming my way too.
So far I’m already extremely impressed. The silicone mold is really clean and they hold my slugs really well.

Thank you. Focused on airgun stewardship by way of nerding it up with science. I’ll drop a more formal intro shortly.Just wanted to welcome you to the forum! Enjoy your time here.
What are these "pellet grips" exactly?Appreciate the feedback.

I’m a 2 tin a week plinker, just on testing.Haha yeah I’m down to about 150-200 a week and maybe another 100-150 on a weekend. I don’t do much target shooting but I do a fair amount of plinking while looking for critters haha… but yeah I’m down because my 250z is just awaiting the plenum mod (next week!) and my gf got a puppy that I’m obsessed with. She goes squirrelling with me but she’s too little for most adventures haha and I think my gf is a little jealous that the puppy does a better job of keeping me home than she does.
I’m an OG with a shaky arm. I need a bag or pod to shoot steady; off hand I lack consistency. Love my BOG Death Grip. But pellet handling is a challenge I needed to overcome, so I developed these silicone Pellet Grips. Coming soon for sale, but in meantime for info, send email to nightplinkers@gmail.com.Handling pellets is rarely mentioned, I do, but not a lot of others. I have some nerve damage and my dexterity suffers. I gave my last 2 break barrel away because they were .177 and loading them was just too difficult.
.22 is still okay but I do drop a lot more of them than .25 or .30. I mostly shoot .25 because I have a LOT of .25 pellets. The .30 are a bit loud hitting my aluminum plate backer in my 25 yard box. The foam panels are pretty much a ring with a hole in the middle.

An example of airgun stewardship right there. How to increase your credit limit, lol.View attachment 14768View attachment 14769
So a lot of you may have realized by now that I have been tweaking and playing with my 250z to a level most sane people would consider obsessive. They would probably be correct haha… but little by little I’ve really stumbled my way into a tune I really like.
That crusty old skillet is the difference between my 30gr Franco slugs at like 65fpe… and the 32gr Franco’s doing 980fps for like 68/69fpe
I’m basically done playing with this gun now. I have a plenum mod on order and when that arrives it’ll take 10 min to put that in then I’m probably gonna shoot for 75fpe and just leave it alone. Not gonna lie I’m pretty proud of this project. January 1, 2025 I had exactly 0 air rifles and no experience post childhood. It’s been amazing getting into this hobby and talking to y’all has been a REALLY big part of it. So thanks for the help and advice.
Now… does anyone have a Karma SLS in .25 they are bored with? Asking for a friend… oh and if you didn’t know… THE Pellet Shop has the first models of the Karma SLS in .30 and 9mm in stock y’all. I want a .25 for a truck gun and most importantly as my “preaching” gun… I’ve taken a few friends shooting already but I gotta couple in mind that once they mag dump an SLS they gonna be cussing me out as they get out their credit cards
….. I’m not sorry, I need more hunting buddies.
Loving my BuckChrony. Ya’ll should check it out if you haven’t already. Tell Julie, Night Plinkers sent youWaiting on magazines, then I'll fill to 4500psi and shoot down to 2000psi. Need to set up a Crony. The moderator is too fat for my cheap Chinese talking wifi Chrony.
I literally was just looking at that gun 10 minutes ago. But 10-15 shots 250bar to 150bar would not surprise me.
10 current Chrony and 1 inbound.Loving my BuckChrony. Ya’ll should check it out if you haven’t already. Tell Julie, Night Plinkers sent you![]()
This is really interesting stuff. I really like your approach to full energy dump, no pass throughs. I strive for the same thing with all of my hunting.Today, and next few days, are all about tune down testing. Today is tuning down the Brocock Ghost Plus for ethical FPE at 40 yards for rodents. Doing the math backwards and testing.
Super low “ideal” FPE for full energy dump, no pass-thru, rodent vital organ kill shot (1”) is 6.0 FPE. Can go as low as 2.5-3.0 FPE for rodent head kill shot (1/2”). Is a balance; if your POI FPE is lower than 6, a head shot may be more ethical, but a tougher shot.
With H&N Baracuda Green (alloy) .177 at 6.64gr, the math says I need 637 fps at my 40yd POI. Then consider BC 0.018 for the Green to figure my FPS loss backwards from POI; so I know what I need at the muzzle; where my BuckChrony is keeping things accurate, and steady with SteadyShot. At muzzle, I need 795-800 FPS, a non-issue for the Ghost. I’m starting with my regulator tuned down to 50 BAR and slowly coming up as needed. Power wheel is set to 3 to start.
The setup here is a Brocock Ghost Plus with a BuckChrony chronograph attached at the barrel. A top is an ATN Thor 4 Thermal that I was also zero’ing while testing FPE.
I have a mount for natechrony to my Texan LSS, so I think it could also mount to hm1000x.10 current Chrony and 1 inbound.
5 cheap Chinese wifi talking chrony with their mounting rods at different spacing. I like the instant report. No looking over and taking my eyes off the target.
1 Chinese wifi only
1 Shoot through Bluetooth
1 Shooting Chrony Alpha
1 Shooting Chrony Beta
1 Caldwell, using it now HM1000x moderator is FAT so no Chinese talking chrony will fit.
Inbound FX Archery Chronograph $49.99 at Utahairguns.com
I just got my .30 moderator from Terry today. I love their stuff. The mod I got today looks even cleaner than the one I got for my barra.Loving my BuckChrony. Ya’ll should check it out if you haven’t already. Tell Julie, Night Plinkers sent you![]()
Ah i remember those days....have taken 2 rabbits, a large rat, and plenty of small birds with my old 495fps .177 springers (worked out to about 5fpe) . Head shots on the rabbits and body shot on the rat. These days I prefer more kapowToday, and next few days, are all about tune down testing. Got 2 squirrels this year; both vital shots, both pellets trapped inside the fur of the opposite shoulder. Why 30fpe with high expansion, fast moving, speed shedding, light pellets? I want the pests dead on my property, not the neighbors! It's overkill on the birds i admit....177 polymags @ 13fpe is just right for them without being overkill.
100% agree. That 13 FPE setup with .177 Polymags is dialed in for clean, contained dispatch. You’re spot on about the risk of high-velocity overkill with light, fast-expanding pellets. Precision and control always win over raw energy, especially when keeping things on your own property. At least it’s the goal. Bonus is more shots per fillAh i remember those days....have taken 2 rabbits, a large rat, and plenty of small birds with my old 495fps .177 springers (worked out to about 5fpe) .
