My favorite target is a furry or feathered kind. One I can eat is a bonus. I’ve never cared for plinking, shooting paper, 100 yards……if my target won’t bleed I’m not wasting pellets. The only time I shoot paper is setting and also checking zero before a hunt. HFT is ok for the social aspect, I get to hang out with fellow air gunners in person. I also don’t shoot groups because as long as minute of a ground squirrels face that’s good enough

Rats scavenging under the bird feeder and starlings anywhere there's a safe background. Got 3 rats in 4 days after a long dry spell going back to last October and a starling at about 20 yards where the pellet impact was louder than the discharge volume of the Notos I shot it with....GOOD TIMES....

I like it all!😍 on a bench shooting paper, short or long range plinking (always starts at 'normal' distances and then gets extreme usually till I run out of cans😅) Pesting is my #1 though and it's 90% of the time feathers over fur. It sometimes hurts "wasting" expensive hunting pellets on paper/cans but ya have to do it, to get good results! The picture has my #1 ...starlings! An invasive bird that I'm sort of thankful is here🤭... you fellow pesters know know what I mean! No shortage of them! Here's a flock from last fall.

I bought the caps you put on a soda bottle and pressurize from a shop compressor. Then built a holder like a HFT target with a bullseye hole 3/4" diameter and shoot it at 40-50 yds depending on the wind. Challenging and rewarding. The caps kept breaking so a friend made a set of caps out of steel to end that issue.

When you pop one starling do the rest take flight or hang around to see who’s next? Don’t have them here but might be interesting if we did.

Rats and mice are #1. I have two Pards and a camera on my bird feeder to get them. Since going on the offensive I haven’t gotten either in my shed or attic. It’s a necessity since my neighbor keeps his huntings dog kennel in filthy conditions and animal control won’t do anything. Before I went offensive at least once a month I’d get a dead poisoned rat in my yard. My neighbor won’t clean the kennel, will only put rat poison out. I didn’t want my dogs messing with poisoned rats.

In the beginning I used my PP700SA and a scope clip on NV. That little combo has more bodies than all my other rifles and Pards combined x20 at least. The rats were so plentiful in the early days that I would see them at dusk and didn’t need Nv

Depends on whether or not they're freshly fledged....the young ones are more apt to hang around confused....the mature birds are outa there.
Exactly, Teds holdover actually has a great video on pesting starlings. If you shoot the younger ones the adult will flee, if you shoot the adults, the younger ones (brown, not black yet) won't know what to do and may stick around for another shot! Up here no silencers allowed so 1 shot is usually all I get anyways, and starlings are by far one of the most flighty birds to hunt. I keep a tally on starlings, up to 15 so far this year ....not a dent in the population but it helps. I don't pest any birds in winter.

Cool! Thanks for the info.
