I’ve been wanting a more compact and lower powered Airgun for a while. So I decided to cash in some HAM points and picked up the Atomic in .25 We The Plinkers package from AOA.

I plan on using the Atomic for closer range pesting in areas that I normally avoid if possible. Also planning on some night work with it and the Zulus.

Cashing in my HAM points was easy as always and dealing with AOA was great. The sales team received the email this morning and like I prefer they waited for me to give them a call .

One thing I was not expecting was the shipping cost, it was only $20 .

I was amazed a couple of days ago because I was buying a hammer weight, some O-rings and a tin of pellets from TalonTunes and he charged me $18.35 for shipping with UPS, no choices, to travel 45 minutes from him to me and it is taking 4 days to get to me. I almost did not buy it because of the shipping but I wanted the hammer weight so I would not have to scavenge parts and the O-ring set and was still going to be charged $18.35 just for the hammer weight and O-rings, like it is a set price so I just through in the tin of pellets. This must be another time when UPS will pass it off to USPS. I get mad every time I pay Pyramid air an extra dollar to have UPS deliver something and UPS passes it on to the postal service and I have to ask myself which part of UPS don't they understand. I think it is a size/weight thing.

I had to deal with the same thing for years where I live, but it seems like now the population is increasing here, I don’t see a lot of the UPS to USPS transfers anymore. My wife flipped and not in a good way when we started seeing Amazon trucks daily. Honestly I think dealing with shipping will always be a nightmare one way or another.

Well, sometimes you have to look on the bright side Chief, at least Tony responds to you. When I paid for my Taipan it went on two weeks, but no response. I texted him (I wanted to cancel it) and he promised to get it out the same day which he did but every subsequent email or call I get an instant response but nothing further. I’m sure it’s nothing personal and plenty of people have had great service from him. It’s just an instance where the same customer keeps falling through the cracks, but that in itself is a serious problem.

A competent and customer focused dealer makes all the difference even if that difference means
paying more at times.

The Atomic and the Sniper XR we have on sale and both are incredible platforms

I finally had a little bit of time today to check out the Atomic. So far I’m planning on keeping it, just not too happy about one of things related to the package deal.
But before I get into that, I want to address the most basic and utmost important question, that of gun’s accuracy. Yes it is.

The biggest thing regarding the Plinkers package that I received is that it didn’t come with the
Athlon Argos HMR 2-12x42 scope as listed in the description, instead it has a MTC Mamba UltraLight 3-10X40.

Small and not very important, I did not receive the “WTP’s” patch and the Savior bag is a different color ( the receipt shows that the green was out of stock so a different color was substituted for no additional charge, ).


On to the Atomic, so far I’m very pleased with it. A very solid build and as I said very accurate. The only change that I have had to make was to swap its handle from the cocking lever with the shorter one from my Sniper. The longer lever was making solid contact with my hand as I held the grip.

AOA did a 5 shot on the crono with the new Western pellets at 20y, looks great. I can tell everyone that JSB Kings do exactly the same thing for less in my Atomic .

Awesome little package. Glad it's shooting well. The Atomic is ace and one of our favorites.

Yesterday I spent my free time building an electronic DOPE card on my phone ( probably should have finished carving my pumpkin(s) , but new Airgun = new rabbit hole ).

Started having trouble with filling, when the compressor would reach shut off at 225 bar and I then opened up the relief valve, all fine except 1/4 to 1/2 of the air in the gun would also bleed off with it.

I put a drop of silicone oil into the fill probe chamber as close to the valve inlet as possible with a precision dropper. Tried to fill up several times but no change so I repeated the process again and now the fill valve seems to be working properly.

Further down the rabbit hole….I mean, testing I will be testing to make sure everything is good .
