i have a large very vintage Hobart mixer floor model and we mix protein patties for the bees and use crisco for grease LOL

I'll just stick with my old F10 shoebox compressor. I paid $500 on close out and couldn't be happier. All I do is keep the lube pads soaked in silicone oil and smear a little lithium grease on the rods where they go through the bushings. I hook it up, turn it on and go do something else. It fills my scba 45 min tanks with no muss and no fuss. It shuts off automatically at 4500 psi. I've been using it for the last 5 years and only had to replace a fuse 1 time cause I tried to restart it without bleeding the pressure.

I've kicked myself so hard in the a$$, for not buying one of those then, that I still have a crappy taste in my mouth!

I hate it, but if it's made in China, I ain't trusting auto shut off and high pressure. My luck, the thing would grenade on me my first use. Watchin like a hawk, every time.

my cousin dated a girl who's dad run some place in Missouri I ask him to get me some grease and he said that for no more then I was using it crisco would be fine?
another friend worked for Tyson chicken and also told crisco?
I have no clue when I think of grease I think of its values in a multitude of what but those greases cant be used around food so its out of my would of know how

I'm not really sure what's going on there. The first gen CS2 used oil/grease and had a port to check it. Then the second gen eliminated the port, and called for no gease for the first year. Now the line is no grease.
We all know mechanical things break, and lubrication is what makes the world go round. With that said, you can draw your own conclusion on whether or not to maintain the compressor. To look at it another way, suppose it's true, no grease needed, (hard to imagine), if you then decide to check and relube every so often, you certainly aren't going to hurt anything. One thing that a periodic relube does is catch wear before it has a chance to do damage. The piston seals and plastic bearings could wear to the point of scoring the cylinder, which effectively ends the life of the compressor. So, I choose to do some simple maintenance and get that warm fuzzy feeling that I'm doing something that will extend the life of the compressor. I have toyed with the idea of not maintaining them, and seeing how long they last, but it's so simple, infrequent, and takes like a half hour, so it just doesn't make sense to me.

Mine lasted two years before it gave out. I used it a lot on my 4500 psi rifles and tanks. I definitely think you got a lemon!

I agree with the shoe box, and you could get parts. Have you ever looked at the price difference in compressors? Lower priced compressors $ 200.00 if you're lucky up to $5,000.00 at what point do you find reliability VS years of use? There is no middle ground for many of us that can't afford $2,000.00 compressors. I consider myself lucky to own 2 Tuxing twin cylinders, one I've had since 2021 the other is a 2024 and so far, they have been great. I use reciprocating oil and I use ice water and don't let the temp go over 120, but are they reliable as a whole per 100 made? I doubt it.

A friend of mine was moving out of state a couple years ago and made me a smokin' deal on his lightly used Alpha Carette (early version) compressor. I wasn't really in the market for a compressor, but I really like this thing. It's very quiet. About the sound level of a big sewing machine; fills up my Great White bottle in a reasonable amount of time, auto shut off, auto moisture bleed with programmable timer, external coolant reservoir my friend made.....he's a retired engineer, lol. Don't know anything about current models but this early version just keeps on tickin'.

@Danman , I wonder how much more I would shoot if I had a compressor? A lot more, I already go through 1500 pellets a month easily, hand pumping. I understand that the Ghost is a beast to fill by hand though. Just something I was thinking about money wise when factoring compressor costs.

I hear that. I just bought those 8;tins of JTS wadcutters 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and down to just a couple unopened tins.
That's about the perfect number to keep my attention and enthusiasm going.

Yep, it's quite a contraption. It comes in handy from time to time when I can't get somewhere to have my tanks filled.

I'm a member of an air gun club over near Tucson that has quite a nice setup for filling members air tanks. They got the local Fire Dept's. old breathing air equipment when the FD updated theirs. Several members then put in all new wiring, gauges, etc. repainted it and all that. They did a beautiful job for a bunch of old retired engineers, electricians and plumbers !

Yep and the gx website itself. You can buy just about anything for the cx2 or 3. Why I always recommend them. 60 dollars will buy you a whole new piston assembly with seals installed. Easy drop in.

I've never been to the CS website till now, it's good as mentioned. They have everything for their own line of stuff. Best I've seen yet.
