Others Compressor fill often to lower pressure, or less often to higher pressure???

I don't have a high-end compressor. I use the $200 - $300 dollar small compressors. They last for 2-3 yrs the way I use them and when they break-down I just toss them out and buy a new one.

It's my belief that the small no-maintenance compressors last longer if the user does not push them past about 200bar if possible. I believe it's the heat build-up in these small compressors that determines their life-span. In other words, short, but more often fill cycles stay cooler than longer, but less often fill cycles that gets the compressor hotter. I have no proof that what I just wrote is true, but it's what I believe and I get what I consider acceptable life from the budget compressors so It's what I do.

While I have rifles with reservoirs that go to 300bar, I never, ever fill them that high. I just accept a lower shot count and return to re-fill more often. And of course, I don't fill any bottles larger than a small buddy-bottle that I carry in the field once in a while for a particular low shot-count rifle (Falcon FN19).

What say you about this subject? Do you agree with my method of compressor use, or do you go by a different standard of use for your compressor(s)?
