I have noticed that the Evol has evolved some over the past several years, and I’m sure some of the changes are less obvious than the outside items we can see, but I’m curious about the upgradability of the older models on an obvious change.

It is hard to see how the scope rails are made. It appears there have been a couple changes to the scope rail over the years. Are the original Evols with the short scope rail upgradable to one of the newer longer versions? (The newest version almost looks machined into the block?)

Thanks for confirming. It definitely looked like that new version was part of the block in the newer models. More just looking for an easy upgrade to the short rail, or then just looking at a newer model with all the upgrades.

On my HPS I had to use a two piece cantilever setup, aside from adding adapters this is the only way to get any type of "forward" scope mounting20230707_193717.webp

All EVOL receivers are of monolithic construction. Original receivers had a shorter 40moa rail. Due to the complication of mounting some tactical scopes with adequate eye relief the rail was extended. The extended rail has 25moa instead of the original 40 to maintain the same overall height of the original and avoid some issues with lower cost scopes that either have very limited turret adjustment or asymmetrical down limited adjustment.

New receivers are mostly drop in for Original EVOLs. The only change that will cause issues is the relocation of the burst disk to the bottom of the receiver which requires a small clearance notch to be added to the chassis. A skilled person can easily cut the notch with a Dremel with a small drum cutter or sander.

One more note. New receivers also use our proprietary 3/8-28 gauge thread with integral o-ring.

Can't wait to get one of the new rifles Tom! Though I may end up taking it all down and ceracoating the rifle.

No idea on the cost as my buddy can do it for nothing for me. As long as you prep everything and tape off the areas you don't want coated, you should be fine.

As either eveything the time you take for the prep work pays off in the end!

Someone has to be the first to do a EVOL with Cerakote in Gold color or Gold plated! Let's do this! Jk but maybe not lol
