I'm about 5 minutes away from pulling the pin on a new Hills Evo 310 pump.
No agents here in NZ, and the nearest one is in Australia...but their prices are dearer than buying from the UK.
So, does anyone know what that red oil is (in the crankcase)? Can it be bought normally in (say) a 1/2 gallon container?
I have found some red oil here but no idea yet about it's viscosity, etc. It is designed for air compressors though according to the online blurb. I will investigate that further but would be nice to know about the Hills oil viscosity, etc. Hills say it was a clear oil but they coloured it red to make it different to the silicon oil for the cylinder.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Ha I wish I knew as well! I almost doubt its petroleum based...hmmm. Let's be real here, its an air compressor so it should be some sort of standard-ish compressor oil. The Hill ships with oil so you'll be good for a little while at least. To get more oil I'd just buy the 50 or 100hr service kit as I already did for mine...Will need it eventually anyways and it comes with more of both oils and some o-rings and such. Unless its leaking you shouldn't go through it fast....unlike the silicone oil. Once you start hand pumping 480cc bottles to 3500 psi it becomes crystal clear what your next purchase needs to be😂. I love mine so far but its pretty young still....

"Oh crumbs"...right, it's done.
Bought the new Hill Evo 310, plus an extra set of the 2 oils needed.
The poor old 9015 is sitting here with a full cylinder. That will last me for ~3 of our weekly shoots...and then I will need more air. Don't like getting below 100 bar on the gauge but I might scrounge maybe 4 shoots out of it.
After that I'm in no-man's land re the shot count left.
I hope that Hills use a fast postman.
Now to sort out my whip connections. I use a whip with female connector to the pump outlet, and Hill pump has a female outlet. Might just get a male to male Foster fitting.
Can't just flip the whip back to front as I need a female Foster fitting at the gun end for my quick fill probe to plug in to.
Didn't get the 50 hour service kit as I can get that from Australia when needed. Plus, with my use 50 hours of running is a long way ahead.
Main thing is I should be set now for air for many years with no drama of grease pots, etc as on the GX CS4i I sold.

Hopefully yours will serve you well! It's hilarious but I have yet to hit the 1hr mark on mine and I've had it since this spring filling my two .22 pcps. I CLEARLY dont shoot enough!
In the small compressor world, I'm convinced the Hill Evo is one of the best. I'm a bit of an oil freak (automotive/equipment mechanic), and i get it, but in this case, I'd be running the Hill red crank oil only. There is petroleum/synthetic, and silicone based compressor oils available, and I'd hate for something to go wrong bc you put in the wrong stuff. Hill may very well deny warranty too.... detonation (and any resulting damage!) is possible if some of that oil migrated into the compression chamber and then into your gun. Given our low usage you will be easily able to go 2 years without buying more oil, but I do like to have it all on hand. FYI I have had to top off the silicone already, it went down to about halfway and I filled back up to blue line.....better too much then to little i guess🤔

Hill used to recommend changing it annually, I guess that has changed.
