Newly in stock at Pyramyd AIR is the Diana Outlaw Gen 2 PCP air rifle. This is a development of the original Outlaw that HAM reviewed back in March 2018.
(Wow, can it really be so long ago, it just seems like yesterday!).
The HAM testers liked the original Diana Outlaw. It earned a HAM Gold Award for its performance on test with a creditable score of 87%.
The Diana Outlaw Gen 2 is clearly a development of that previous gun. There’s definitely a strong family resemblance, combined with a good number of worthwhile improvements. Here’s the original as a reminder…
Of course, the Outlaw is – and was – a regulated, magazine-fed PCP with sidelever action and tube reservoir for High Pressure Air at up to 3,625 PSI fill pressure.
The Outlaw was always a good-looking air rifle. However, Diana has improved the appearance still further in this new model. There’s a much more stylish hardwood stock with exaggerated sweeps and curves compared to the original, as we can see below.
The buttpad looks to be improved, too. Plus there’s a sling swivel stud fitted to the rear of the buttstock. That’s good.
Other improvements to the stock include M-LOK slots in the underside of the forearm. These could be used to attach a bipod, front sling swivel or other goodies.
Still on appearance, there’s a carbon fiber shroud around the barrel. The built-in silencer is retained, fortunately.
The breech now has built-in Picatinny rails, instead of the airgun dovetails that were on the original Outlaw.
While both original and Gen 2 Outlaws are regulated, the new model includes a regulator pressure gauge located in the underside of the stock.
Another improvement is a new magazine. This contains a built-in ratchet mechanism to aid loading. Two are bundled with the gun.
Performance figures are similar to the original with maximum quoted Muzzle Energies of 22 Ft/Lbs for the .177 model. The .22 version of the Diana Outlaw Gen 2 has 35 Ft/Lbs.
However there was a .25 caliber version of the original Outlaw. No sign of that yet on Pyramyd’s website, but surely it must be coming in Gen 2 form!
