The Diana Outlaw Gen 2 PCP air rifle is an updated version of the original model. When Hard Air Magazine tested the original Outlaw back in 2018, we liked it a lot. The original earned a score of 87% on test and a HAM Gold Award.
Well, now it’s seven years later – ouch, how time flies! – and the new, Gen 2 Outlaw incorporates a number of worthwhile improvements over the original model.
Firstly it’s fair to say that the power level remains the same as the “Gen 1” gun. Diana’s specs call for up to 22 Ft/Lbs of Muzzle Energy in .177 caliber, 32 Ft/Lbs in .22 and 45 Ft/Lbs in .25 cal.

The overall size, shape and look of the gun are very similar, too. This is a regulated PCP with a wood stock, sidelever action, magazine feed and shrouded barrel. There’s an incorporated silencer, too.
The original Outlaw was a successful and popular model, so Diana sensibly decided not to mess with success, but to enhance the basic concept.
So what’s different?
Most obvious is the more stylish stock. It’s still “real tree wood”, but with a more stylish, rounded shape.

Plus, there’s now an adjustable buttpad instead of the fixed rubber version of the original.

Look underneath and you’ll see that theres now a pair of M-LOK slots in the underside of the forend for attaching accessories. That’s new. Fortunately a sling swivel is still incorporated in the rear of the buttstock.

Another upgrade is the incorporation of a Picatinny scope-mounting rail in the top of the breech. As with the M-LOK slots, this shows that Diana is moving with the times and keeping the product in line with current trends.

Like the original, the Diana Outlaw Gen 2 PCP air rifle has a built-in regulator. However now there’s a gauge in the underside of the stock to indicate that pressure.

Also changed is the magazine. The capacity remains the same (11 rounds in .22 caliber, for example), however it now incorporates a ratchet system for the rotor. This functions as a “third hand” when loading, making it unnecessary to hold the spring-loaded rotor in place. In my opinion, that’s a great idea…

Retained from the original Gen 1 model is that Diana includes two magazines, a single-shot tray and a full set of tools and O rings with the gun. In addition, it ships in a soft gun case that’s sized to accommodate the gun with a mounted scope.

Now we’ll address the elephant in the room. What about the price?
At a Street Price of $649.99, the Gen 2 Outlaw is – like everything – much more expensive than the $499.99 that it sold for back in the pre-COVID days of 2018. Given the average rate of inflation since then, that $499.99 in 2018 equates to $640.10 today (2025).
So today’s price of the new Gen 2 Outlaw is almost exactly what it would be due to inflation alone. Given that all the improvements would undoubtedly increase the manufacturing cost, the current price is pretty impressive.
And before anyone rushes to blame tariffs for the price increase – the Outlaw is manufactured in China – it’s instructive to compare it to the Benjamin Marauder.
In 2018, the base, wood-stock, made in USA, Marauder was selling for $479.99. ($20.00 less than the Outlaw). Now the Marauder sells for $659.99 at Pyramyd ($10.00 more than the Outlaw). The unregulated, bolt-action Marauder remains unchanged, it’s still exactly the same as it was in 2018 (and had been for many years before that) yet the price increase matches that of the Outlaw. Yip, there’s that same inflation effect for you…
