By popular request, there’s now a choice of HAM Community display modes. The original “Light” (black text on a white background) mode has been joined by a new “Dark” (white text on a black background) version.
So now you can choose the way you most prefer to view the HAM Community. In fact, there’s three choices.
You can select to always view in Light mode.
Or you can always view in Dark mode.
There’s also an automatic setting (called “System”). This will change between Light and Dark modes automatically, depending on whether you have the Operating System of your computer, or cellphone set to do this.
The Light mode looks like this (it’s the way it’s always looked)…
The Dark mode appears so…
Making the change is simple, here’s how you do it. Simply click this “Light/Dark Mode” icon that’s displayed near the top on the right.
If you’re using the “Style Chooser” at the foot of the site, it will look like this. The new mode is called “HAM Red L&D”.
From here (the footer), the previous display modes are still visible.
Either way, click to see three choices of HAM Community display modes. Light, Dark or System. Just click the one you want.
The change is made immediately. You can change between them at any time. Pretty neat, huh???
This changes is going live today, 4 January 2026 at 4:30 PM in the afternoon, US Eastern Time. Consider it a slightly late New Year’s present for HAM Community members…
As with any software change, the HAM Team has undertaken pre-production testing. But there’s inevitably something that we have not yet found. That’s where you come in!
Please let us know of any issues you find by replying to this post in the HAM Community. Thanks in advance
So far the main issue we have is that some of the manufacturer’s logos don’t show up well. We’ll be replacing these as soon as possible. The existing other modes, like HAM Silver – will remain available until we’re certain that the new “HAM RED L&D Mode” is bulletproof!
Finally, I want to thank Solo1 – our new Moderator – for pushing us to make this upgrade. Also to Bassman – the HAM Community’s outstanding Webmaster for making it happen.
But if there’s any issues, blame me. My wife always does…
