There’s a new multi-shot multi-pump air rifle available now. It’s the Umarex NXG APX Multi-Shot Pellet Rifle.
Priced at a very attractive $72.99, it’s yet another entry into the “value” part of the airgun market from Umarex USA. Other models include the CO2-powered Canex, the Iconix and Komplete PCPs and the MarkPoint pistol.
Generally these products are all attractive and perform well. The Komplete earned a HAM Gold Award for its performance on test, while the Canex and Iconix both achieved Silver Awards.
So the expectation is that this new .177 caliber multi-shot multi-pump air rifle will also be good value.
In fact, the Umarex NXG APX Multi-Shot Pellet Rifle looks to be a clear upgrade on the existing, single-shot, BB/pellet-firing NGX APX model.
HAM reviewed the single-shot version back in 2018. We could see the attraction and expect that the new magazine-fed, pellet-only model now being introduced will offer better accuracy with a rifled barrel. The single-shot model is a smoothbore, of course.
The magazine and trigger look to be very similar to those of the recently-introduced Iconix PCP air rifle. So there’s definitely a family resemblance here, which makes a lot of sense. (The photo below shows a close-up of the Iconix).
That’s the same magazine as is used in the Umarex Gauntlet – and the NGX APX multi-shot is supplied with two of them, plus a single shot tray also. Very good!
The multi-shot multi-pump Umarex NXG APX Multi-Shot Pellet Rifle is powered by your choice of between 3 and 10 pumps. The manufacturer quotes the maximum Muzzle Velocity as 800 FPS.
There’s simple open sights, plus a bundled 4 x 15 scope and rings.
Overall, the NXG APX is just the sort of multi-shot multi-pump air rifle that’s in the sights of many newcomers to airgunning. Either for themselves, or as a teaching tool for kids or grand kids – under supervision, of course!
